Racetown Summer Series Round 2: Racetown 395 Penhall Proves a Point By JAY RABJOHN ADElANTO, CA, AUG. 7 T he second round of the inaugural Racetown Summer Series took place in temperatures over 100 degrees. That didn't stop Ryan Penhall and Brock Bryant from dominating their respective classes. Corey Soarle and Hunter Lent also put in impressive perlormances in the heat. Penhall won both motos of the 250cc/450F Intermediate class after intense battles with Cameron Rodriguez. In the first moto, Penhall got out front early, but it only took a lap for Rodriguez to make a pass. It appeared as if Rodriguez would run away; however, Penhall showed lots of heart and never gave up. He caught back up to Rodriguez, hounded him for a lap, and then made the pass and took the moto win. Third place went to Mathieu Vincetti, who was also riding strong. The second moto saw Penhall out front again en route to the eventual win, but this time around it was Vincetti grabbing the second spot, followed by Rodriguez in third. In the 250cc/450F Novice class, Bryant took both moto wins, but he had to work for it. In the first mota, Kasey Morris grabbed the holeshot, followed by Scotty Walker, Travis Taylor, and then Bryant, who was on a mission, picking off riders one by one. Bryant soon moved into the lead, while all kinds of racing ensued behind him. When the checkered flag waved, it was Bryant with the win, followed by lac Pechinko in second, Taylor in third, Corey Vondracek in fourth, and rounding the fifth spot was Walker. In mota two, Bryant again shot into the lead, and eventually the moto win. He was followed by Pechinko in second, and Taylor again in third. Fourth went to Walker this time, with Vondracek grabbing fifth. Hunter Lent put in strong rides in the 85cc Novice class to take both mota wins. In the first mota, Lent wasted no time moving out front. Riding a strong second the entire mota was Andrew Silverstein, who never let the third-placed rider, Robert Gold. within sight. They would finish in those pOSitions, with fourth going to Michael Gangi and fifth to Austin Holbert. In mota two, Lent again took the win in convincing fashion. Second this time went to David Okon, who was nowhere to be found in the first mota. Gold was third again, with Holbert coming in fourth and Gangi rounding out fifth. Corey Soarle was the guy to beat in the 250cc/450F Beginner class. Saarle had linle competition on the day. and he dominated the class. In the first mota, Soarle absconded with the early lead and then the win, followed by Devin Zinner in second and Eric Campbell in third. Fourth and fifth went to Ryan Hulse and Randy Lesovsky, respectively. The second mota again saw Soarle getting an easy win, with Zinner and Campbell in second and third. Fourth went to Joe Hollie this time. with Hulse finishing fifth. RESULTS 50 STRTR: I. Brandon Boehnke (Hon). 50 NOV: I. Paul Stratton (Hon): 2. David Dade (Hon); 3. Jerad Knisely (Hon): 't.
