News. Dowd talked to motorsports
writers Damian Dattore (OCR) and
Mike Brudenell (Free Press) while sitting on his bulldozer, taking a break from developing what will become a neighborhood on the western Massachusetts property.
There was a big collision behind the
starting line after the first 250 mato
when a Honda CRF450R steered by
Travis Preston sent the AM.A:s Steve
Whitelock flying. The likable Wh~e
lock, who got the worst of the collision
(but was later laughing about it), had
just told the media earlier that morning
at a round-table discussion, "I wouldn't
be out here doing this if I didn't love
it." Said one Honda mechanic who
helped the fallen AMA skipper: "I think
Whitelock zigged when he should have zagged."
