Californian Racing Club Dunestown Series Round 2: Edwards Air Force Base Motocross Track Radovich Rules at Dunestown! By GREG ROBERTSON EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, CA, MAY IS Dound two of the 28th annual California I'"\.Racing Club/Riders' Choice Performance- sponsored Dunestown Series was played out on the sandy whoops of the Edwards Air Force Base motocross track, where Kawasaki·mount- ed Brian Radovich emerged victorious in both the 12Scc and 2SOcc Novice classes. Jared Aseltine led the opening 125cc Novice moto for a few turns before an off- track excursion handed the top spot to Radovich. Craig Knox kept Radovich honest for a couple of laps before Radovich pulled away for the win. Nick Butterworth finished all by himself in third, and Brent Reyes held off Cody Maness at the line for fourth. Jake Hewlett fought his way up from a I5thplace start in moto one to finish eighth, but he more than made up for it with a wire-ta-wire romp in moto two. Radovich gated in second place. where he would stay for the entire moto to sew up the overall. Butterworth came from just inside the top 10 off the start to go 3-3 for second overall, ahead of Knox (2-6). Butterworth fought his way up through traffic to hound leader Radovich during the second half of the first 250cc Novice moto. Radovich held him off by a few yards for the win. James Sendelbach claimed third, followed by Maness and Malt Cerrato. Radovich and Butterworth went at it again over the top spot in mota two, with Radovich prevailing on his Troy Lee Designs-backed KX250F for his second class victory on the day. Butterworth picked up another second-place trophy. Maness went 4-3 to top the 3-7 score of Sendelbach for third. Cody Redenius flew his pair of Bakersfield Yamaha/OakleyNP-backed YZFs to first-place payback in the 125cc and 250cc Pro fields. Redenius and Scott Howe were just about evenly matched in both I25cc Pro motos, with Redenius using 2-1 rides to top the 1-2 tally of Howe. Travis Smith carded a pair of thirds, over George laMonte. KTM's Kurt Caselli made short work of the opening 250cc Pro contest, but he didn't make the gate for moto two, which left the door open for Redenius to go 2-1 for the win. Howe (4-2) was second in the standings, over Smith (3-3). Trent Pugmire took no prisoners in the 85cc (14-16) and Supermini classes, as he went four for four in mota wins. Team Green's Blake Baggett did his best to keep Pugmire honest in both Supermini races en route to his 2-2 finishes. Fellow Team Green riders Austin Politelli (3-3) and Connor Penhall (4-4) rounded out the top four. Penhall returned to use 3-2 rides to edge out the 2-3 efforts of Joshua Lawrence for runner-up honors in the 14-16 field. Nicholas Mercier was another double class winner on the day. Mercier split mota wins with rival Cody Miller for overall honors in Super Pee Wee (7-9) racing, and then returned to ace both 65cc (4-8) races. Miller would have to settle for another second-place trophy. Tanner Sawyer (2-4) topped Dylan Politelli (4-3) for third.
