Pit Bike Summer Series Round 3: TV Land No Rain, and a Streak Has Been Broken By DENNIS ALBREWCZYNSKI PIERPONT, OH, JUNE 25 I t was hard to believe, but this was a race at TV Land, and it didn't rain. Although, with temperatures in the upper 80s and a dusty track, a little rain would have been welcome on this muggy June afternoon. The opening race was for the SOce Production and 50ce Open classes. The Production class ran with two competitors. Shawn Brink swept both motos, with Trevor Rockwell finishing funner-up. The 50ce Open contest was a different story, however, as newcomer Dante lacozici showed up on an Xtreme Pit Bike and put on a clinic. He swept both motas in dominating fashion over Tony Desarro and Anthony Fatica. The Mid-Size Production class was up next. Trevor Vines got the holeshot in moto one. Josh Powell stayed close for a while, but.in the end, Vines held on for the win. David Britton finished third. Moto two was a carbon copy of the first mota. It was all Vines, with Powell and Britton finishing in that order. The final race of the day was the Clutch class. Erie, Pennsylvania's P.J. Dylewski has been the man to beat, coming into round three undefeated. Just as Ricky Carmichael's luck came to an end in Southwick, Dylewski met the same fate. Brian George got the jump off the gate in mota one, with Dylewski on his tail. The pair got out ahead of the rest of pack and did battle. Every corner was like a chess match, with each rider carefully choosing their lines. Dylewski did everything that he possibly could to get around George, riding like a man possessed, but in the end, George held him off and took the moto win. Underpowered on a XR I QO, Ben Richter put in a valiant effort to finish third. When moto two started off, it looked like a repeat, with George once again taking the early lead. This time, Dylewski's hard work paid off, as he was able to sneak underneath George after the finish-line jump. George tried to get the lead back in the next few turns, sticking his front wheel in whenever he could. Dylewski showed why he is the points leader and held off George for the win. Matt Soety finished third in the mota. Overall, the win went to Dylewski, second to George, and third to 50ety. After three rounds, the series is starting to take shape. In the 50cc Production class, Rockwell holds an eight-point lead over Shawn Brink, and Jason Herman sits in third, 12 points behind the leader. The SOcc Open has two competitors tied for the lead; Eric Searles and Dante lacozici share the top spot, with Sam Bluedorn five points behind them. Track owner Vines is dominating the Mid-Size Production class, with an 18- point lead over Powell and a 23-point gap over third-placed Britton. Dylewski sits on top of the Clutch class with an 18point lead over George, and Soety is in third, just two points behind George. RESULTS SO PROD: I. Shawn Brink (Hon); 2. Trevor Rockwell (Hon).
