No I:hrome on thi§ I:rui§er The chopper and custom craze is in full swing, and it's nice to see an over-the-top metric cruiser for a change. Cliff Randall from Canada spared no expense when he took this 2002 Honda VTX 1800C from stock to "astonishing." A year in the making, the Chromeless Cruiser, as Randall has named it, has a long list of goodies, not to mention over 2000 hours of labor and $13 1,66S thrown at the beast! Honda Canada provided the bike and an extra motor, in addition to a pile of extra parts. The bike was painted by Ron Gaston at Concepts on Wheels, while Vic Lefebvre did all of the bodywork and body modifications. Cameron McGilligot at Plastic Surgeon did all of the plastic fabrication to areas such as the fairings. Colourific Coatings Ltd. powder-coated all of the parts, but first the Plating House had to strip all of the chrome off. SRK Results did much of the anodizing, including all the brackets, nuts, bolts, clamps and axles. Works Performance'built custom, I I-inch, nitrogen-charged shocks, and Wolfe Works built the front fork and modified numerous other parts, in addition to Chimaera Inc. anodizing the fork tubes black. MotoSpeed, a Swedish company, built the 2000cc cylinders and pistons, and John Parker Racing assembled and flowed the motor. Dynojet provided the PC3 fuelmanagement system. The exhaust was custom-made by Brant Design, and Fireball Coatings added a ceramic coating to the exhaust. For a complete photographic timeline of the build, go to www.picturetrail.com/gid3140472. The I:itadel Belgian Andre Malherbe (I) was 500cc World Motocross Champion in 1980-81 and '84. Here, he leads Leif Persson (9) and Dave Thorpe (3) at the Citadel of Namur in 1985. Thorpe won the overall at this race and went on to win the title not only in '85 but again in '86, and then one last time in '89. r To cast your vote, log on to www.cyclenews.com.
