Round 4 OFF-ROAD avid Knight, from the Isle of Man, claimed his fourth consecutive Enduro 3-c1ass victory of the '05 season at the World Enduro Championship's second visit to Spain, where he comfortably outpaced his E3 Championship rivals and finished as the event's fastest rider on both days. "It's been another great weekend for me," Knight said. "With the three special tests being quite short, I really thought that there would only be a few seconds between the top riders, so to win by just over half a minute on day one was good. "I found day two was a bit easier," he said. "I think it was because I was getting used to my four-stroke again, having raced a two-stroke the weekend before in Austria. The event got better as it went on and the tests started to get a bit rougher." With no other Enduro 3-c1ass rider posing any real danger to Knight during the event, it was his Finnish teammate Marko Tarkkala who placed as runner-up on both D 44 JUNE 22, 2005 • __ World Enduro Championship Series days. Finishing 32 seconds behind on day one, the Finn found himself just under a minute behind on day two. Finishing third both days and, once again, upholding two-stroke honors in the E3 class was French Gas Gas rider Seb Guillaume. Matching Knight's double class win was KTM rider Ivan Cervantes in the Enduro I catagory. Battling all day long with Italian Honda rider Simone Albergoni during the opening day's competition, Cervantes eventually placed eight seconds ahead. "The weekend was perfect for me," Cervantes said. "I started the race really wanting to win because I knew that another good result would help me extend my championship lead. It is a very important win for me. I really enjoyed the race. I made one crash in the extreme test on the first day, but day two went perfectly." With the Spaniard haVing squeezed ahead of Albergoni on day one, it was French Yamaha rider Marc Germain who placed in third on day one. But on day two, CYCLE NEWS Three weeks after having his spleen removed, Stefan Merriman won the E2 (middleweight) class both days.
