PHOTO BY GARY CRIDER AMA SouthErn All-Stars MX Tour Round 2: TMT Motocross Park Wisdom Prevails at TMT By GARY CRIDER MONTEAGLE, TN, MAR. 13 ore than 330 riders (representing six states) were on hand at TMT Motocross Park for round twO of the third annual Southern All-Stars Motocross Tour (a.k.a. the "SAS Series''). Weather and track conditions were excellent. The event did double-duty as the facility's annual Dealership Showdown. in which riders can choose to represent a specific dealership. At the end of the day, the dealership with the best M on-track performance gets to have its name displayed on a large banner over one of the big jumps for one year. Suzuki/Yamaha of Dalton, was the winner, thanks to team riders such as Matt Bell, who swept the 85cc (9-13), 85cc (12.13) and Supermini divisions. Riding for Sarge's Cycles, Judson Wisdom Georgia, turned in one of the day's top performances. never missing a beat en route to perfect scores in the 65cc (7-9) and 6Scc Modified divisions, as well as the B5cc (7-1 I) contest. Jim's Motorcycle Sales-backed Jon Boruff wrestled briefly with runner-up Kris Swaney in both the 125 and 2SOcc A divisions, but Boruff came away with the mota win every time. Boruff also won the Over 25 division. Alix Freeman. who won last year's SAS Series championship in the B5cc (12-13) division, notched a perfect score ahead of 36 competitors in this day's 125cc C contest. Levi Long was the runner·up via his 2-3 talty, over Blake Morrow's 3-4 score. Top contender Ryan Anderson ran into trouble in mota one and carded a I S-2 tally. netting seventh overall. Ben Thomas nabbed the holeshot in and won the opening 2s0cc C moto. During the attempted start of the second mota, Thomas showed the way again, but the mota was immediately red-flagged. On the restart, Thomas was slow out of the gate (apparently, Thomas had programmed only two holeshots into his Honda's computer for the day), and he Experts by six places - earning himself a free pass to the Expert division at the next race.
