ames Stewart recorded his second
career 250cc-c1ass victory much like
he did his first two weeks ago in Dallas: in dominating fashion. The factory Kawasaki rider survived a firstturn incident that ultimately sent
efending champ Chad Reed flying off the
track and opened up a comfortable lead
from the get-go. And nobody - not even
series leader Ricky Carmichael - could

But there was still plenty to watch,
thanks to Reed and his amazing comefrom-behind ride. Had the race been 23
or 22 laps instead of 20, the podium could
have looked much different. As it was,
though, Stewart took the win in front of
49,532 5upercross-starved fans at the
new Qwest Field in Seattle, while a
revived Kevin Windham, on the

third. Reed finished a remarkable fourth.
Despite finishing third, Carmichael
clinched the FIM THQ World Supercross
GP title in Seattle, though the Makita
Suzuki rider had heavier thoughts on his
mind, like getting passed by Windham on
the last lap and not having won a race
since Atlanta seven weeks ago.
"I'm pumped for the title," Carmichael
said but with little enthusiasm. "It was a
commitment that I made in December. I
needed to do it, and it was the right thing
to do. It's my first World title, so I'm
happy about that."
For Stewart, the Seattle win came as a
little bit of a relief after winning his first
250cc-c1ass Supercross race in Dallas and
then crashing out of contention at Pontiac
a week later.
"I thought it was going to be a good
race in Pontiac, [but I] just washed out,"
