eMe Golden State Nationals, Pacific Northwest Region Round 2: Albany Motorsports Park Terlecki's Triumphant Day! Bv CLAV LIGHT ALBANY, OR, FEB. 20 F ormer AMA National and Supercross regular Ryan Terlecki scored a hat trick at the second and final round of the CMC Golden State Nationals, held at Albany Motorsports Park. The Suzuki rider from nearby Stayton, Oregon, triumphed in the 12Scc, 2S0cc and Over 2S Pro classes, all with I-I finishes. However, Terlecki wasn't the only rider to accomplish such a feat on the day, as southern Oregon speedster Jordan Mockridge did similar damage in the Before The Hill, 125cc and 250cc Intermediate classes. The Yamaha rider from Bonanza was clearly the top Intermediate performer on the day, replicating Terlecki's moto-win tally, though Mockridge did have tough competition from Oregon's Travis McMackin in the Before The Hill and 125cc classes and Californian Justin Posey in the 2S0cc class. Terlecki's first overall win of the day came in the competitive Over 25 Pro class. Washington's Dan Moore and Oregon's Rory Sullivan gave Terlecki close challenges in the two motos, but in the end it was Terlecki finishing first. Sullivan, the lone participant in the adjoined Open Pro class, ran in Terlecki's shadow for most of the second moto, but Moore couldn't find a way past Terlecki's 450cc Suzuki and placed second overall in the Over 25 class, ahead of Washington's Brett Boehm (4-3), Don Bisceglia (3-4) and Honda-mounted Dave Sibley (5-5). Most of those same riders didn't get much rest in between motos; just three motos later, they and a half-dozen others would all meet again in the 2S0cc Pro ciass. Terlecki grabbed the lead at the unleashing, followed by Moore, Bryan Clevenger, Sullivan and rookie Pro Adam Metzler. Sullivan, riding a Honda, was Terlecki's closest competition in the opening moto and placed second, followed by Moore, Cievenger, Boehm, KTM rider Daniel Harris and Devin Watson, Metzler, who was among the lead pack, crashed and finished ninth. Moto two was another Terlecki benefit, although several riders did what they could to pull the plug on the (Han); J. Cameron Camera (Han); 4. Cisco Chavez (Yam); 5. Brandon Fiorito (Han). 30+ BEG: I. M2R1Sinisalo/Smith/ Roseburg Cycle-backed Suzuki rider, Moore ran second for a while, but it was Clevenger who mounted an incredible charge and closed in on Terlecki in the later stages. Terlecki, though, had an answer for all of Clevenger's challenges and narrowly eluded the Washingtonian. Clevenger's 4-2 placings enabled him to tra;; Terlecki overall, followed by Moore (3-3), Sullivan (2-4) and Boehm (5-6). Terlecki and fellow RM riders Moore and Metzler were the front-runners of the opening I25cc Pro moto, but when all was said and done, it was Terlecki taking the top honors. Metzle:r, a highly heralded rider as an Intermediate, proved he's ready to make an immediate impact in the Pro ranks by taking the lead from Terlecki at one point, although he later crashed and handed the lead back to the veteran rider. Terlecki also won moto two after getting past early leader Moore (who would later win the Over 30 Pro-class). Moore (2-2), Metzler (3-3), Sullivan (4-4) and Boehm (5-5) rounded out the top five. eN ALaANY MOTORSPORTS PARK ALaANY, OREGON RESULTS: FEBRUARY 20, 200S (ROUND 2 OF 2) P/W (0-6): I. The Pilot Point speedster used consistency at all four rounds to top the 65cc (10-1 I), 65cc Open and 85cc (7-1 I) classes. His win in the 65cc Open class at Oak Hill pushed him over the 200 mark in points, just one of three riders throughout the series to accomplish this feat. Folks saw firsthand some of the new improvements at the Oak Hill MX Park facility, made in preparation for its premiere GNC International Final event, March 15-20. One of the most popular attractions was the KTM Playground, where many of the younger brothers and sisters of the more than 500 B entered riders treated themselves to a day of their own fun while their family members spent a long day racing. A new road now completely encompasses the track, with one of two tunnels already installed. The covered staging partition was also completed, as was the new addition to the tower for the scorers. Numerous riders from California, Florida, Kansas, Ohio, Colorado and Missouri, as well as the local five·state area, took advantage of the final round of the West Side Series to get in some valuable seat time. Some of the fastest racing came from the Intermediate ranks, where Hunter Hewitt was on fire with holeshots. Hewitt, who has been spending a lot of time training in California during the wet Texas winter, showed a new confidence in his riding. Jimmy Albertson of Missouri, however, proved to be the most consistent when it came to taking the checkered flag first. Ryan Terlecki tapped the 125cc, 2S0cc and Over 25 Pro classes at the finale of the CMC Golden State Nationals, Pacific Northwest Region. 5. Erik Meusling (Suz). 125 PRO: I. Ryan Terlecki (Suz); 2. Bryan Jackson collected the most points throughout the series this year, tallying up 220 by the end of the final round at Oak Hill. Jackson slamdunked each of the four rounds in the Over 40 event. Jackson also collected the overall win in the Over 30 Non-Pro class with 195 points to runner-up Stephen Nowak's 186 pOints. Nowak claimed the Over 25 Non-Pro overall win with 210 pOints. J.J. Pecsok sported a new ride, using Kawasaki power to garner a couple of good starts in the 125cc and 250cc A classes. But it was Cody Dickey of nearby Weatherford who took the overall victory in both classes with three out of four moto wins. Blake Wharton of Pilot Point collected both moto wins in the 85cc (12-13) class, and then used a strong comeback in the second moto of the Senior Supermini contest to take the overall win, displacing first-moto winner Matthew Lemoine to second place overall, while Eli Tomac rounded out the podium in third.
