early lead, until Carrish took over and held on to finish first, giving him second overall. Pollard, running in third, soon gave Saye a run for his money, passing him first in the whoops - only to get passed back when Saye tripled over Pollard to reclaim second place, after which Pollard accelerated, passing Saye to reclaim second place for good, giving him the overall win for the Open Novice class. Sharrer took third overall, Saye was fourth, and Paul was fifth. In the first combined 125cc (12-15) and I 25cc B moto, 29 riders filled the starting gate, Kawasaki rider Rustin Meyer was the man to beat, finishing in first place, followed by Honda rider Taylor Clemmons and Kawasaki jockey Derek Anderson. The holeshot went to Honda 125cc B rider Ray Doyle, who just recently moved up into the B class. Meyer soon took over the lead, showing everyone how it's done. Clemmons worked his way up and hung with Meyer for the first part of the race, followed closely by Anderson. The second mota again started with a holes hot by Doyle, and he fought to stay up front, but just like in the first mota, Meyer quickly broke loose and held the lead of the 1215 class for the rest of the mota. The real battle was between Honda-mounted Matt Nicely and Clemmons, over second place; they went bar to bar for most of the race. Clemmons would blitz the whoops, but Nicely was able to make a move on Clemmons before the step-up. Clemmons put up a good fight, passing Nicely back several times. In the end, Nicely took second place from Clemmons, and fourth overall. "It was a most excellent race," Clemmons' dad, Jerry, proclaimed. The 125cc (12-15) class ended with Meyer taking first overall, Clemmons second, Anderson third, Nicely fourth and Yamahamounted Baret Bachmeier fifth. Nicely (Hon): 3. Michael Krieger (Yam); -4.
