had to slow to edge between man and machine. Holeman skirted around Blosser on the inside. Kim Kinslow, voted most improved rider, moved into sixth, where she eventually finished. On the second lap, Armstrong passed Blosser and settled in behind Holeman. Armstrong made his move on the outside of the Taladega tum and into first, and never looked back, taking the moto win. Dodge, now in fourth, pressured Blosser. When Blosser slowed, Dodge passed, and he soon made short work of Holeman, but a miscue left Dodge in last and out of the second moto. William Harrity and Robert Riplex put on impressive charges from the back of the pack. Reid Franke moved up into fourth but then stalled his bike. In the second moto, past club treasurer Art Flores was out in front. Holeman nudged Flores and high-tailed it to the moto win. Flores stalled soon after the pass, but Holeman was still pressured by Blosser and Armstrong. Harrity, on a charge, fell after the whoops, creating a roadblock. Ryan Grosz skirted through first to finish fourth. "After the race," Armstrong said, "I pulled up behind the two on the double before the whoops. My bike's rear kicked sideways and threw my chin into the brake reservoir. I could feel the blood running down my neck. I knew if I could stay in third, I'd take the overall." RESULTS BEG: I. Regional Arenacross Series Prairie Capital Convention Center Oettel, Weimer Take Springfield Wins By JAMES PINCKARD SPRINGFIELD, Il, FEB. 4 I n years past, the weather in central Illinois has been anything but kind when it comes time for the Springfield Arenacross. This year, however, was an exception: The great weather upped the rider count, as well as the spectator turnout. There were almost 40 riders in each Pro class, vying for only 16 spots at the gate. With a field so deep in talent, anyone of the 16 who made it to the main event had a chance of a win or a top finish. In Lhe 125cc Pro race, Honda rider Jeff Willoh put his fourstroke out front, but he quickly encountered trouble, in the form of F&S Suzuki rider David Oettel. A man on a mission, Oettel made the pass for the lead on lap two and never looked back. Oettel rode a perfect race, keeping a very talented field behind him. And behind Oettel is where the action was taking place. The man on the move was GPS Racing/SoCal Decal Works Suzuki rider Brad Modjewski, who made the move on National Arenacross Team Green rider Shawn Clark on the third lap. With the race in full swing, Oettel was out front. Wil10h had second in the bag, with Suzuki rider Jim Chester third, Modjewski fourth and Clark fifth. Just when it looked like things were going to settle in, Clark caught fire, passing Modjewski on lap seven and moving in on Chester. When the white flag flew, it was Oettel, Willoh, and Chester, with Clark hot on his heals. This late in the race, lappers were starting to become a factor: Chester tried to make a pass. only to have a lapped rider move over on him, letting Clark by both for third! It was a bad deal for Chester, who Print your NEW address here. CA 92626 looked like he had third in the bag, but that's part of what makes arenacross so exciting - you never know what will happen. As the riders lined up for the 250cc main, the fans were on the edges of their seats, looking forward to another great race. When the gate dropped, the fans were not disappointed, as a sea of yellow flooded the front of the pack. American Suzuki rider Jake Weimer was at the helm and on the gas! The defending Regional Arenacross champion, Donnell's Suzuki Stoneworks Suspension rider Brian Stone, was hot on Weimer's heels, but he just could not match Weimer's pace this night. Modjewski kept in touch with the leaders but just could not find a way around. At the white flag, the running order was the
