way through the last-chance qualifier. When the gate went up on this four-lapper, Cooley shot out to an early lead, followed by a charging Grant and Hermant. By lap three, a charging Sauer had worked his way from fifth to challenge and then pass Hermant for third place and the final transfer position. The stage was now set for what promised to be a great main event. At stake was the National Championship title, the first leg of the 2005 Triple Crown, and an ice-cool $1000 cash to the victor! On lap two, Mann took a slight advantage, while Venegas tried everything in his arsenal to pass in every turn. In turn three on lap four, "The Edge" took it over the edge! In a desperate attempt to pass Mann, Venegas took his machine in so low and fast, the primary chain cover hit the ice, causing him to lose control, and he flew across the track into the safety pads. Meanwhile. behind the lead battle. the racing was incredible. Cooley, in third, got passed by Grant, who got passed by Kemp, while Sauer also passed Cooley! It was a great win for Mann, breaking Venegas' season-long winning streak. The next round travels to the Orleans in Las Vegas at the World Championship Open II.
