Round 9: Muhlenberg County Convention Center
Mees Wins Many
at Muhlenberg
BY BOBBY LEWIS
GREENVILLE, KY, JAN. 9
ared Mees showed up in Greenville and took five out of six
wins back home to Michigan.
Mees led the ""SOcc Pros from the start and never looked
back on his way to a convincing win. john Olmstead held
second until a late-race bobble allowed Aaron Ladd to claim the
J
spot. Olmstead held on for third. Jason Goodwin moved past
Nichole Cheza for fourth.
Mees turned another holeshot into a win in the SOScc Pro
class and completely dominated the Pro~division IT finals.
Goodwin nailed the start of the Open Pro class and held
firm to card the win. Mees and Ladd pressured from the next
two poSitions, while Vet winner Bill Gruwell held off Cheza and
Olmstead for fourth.
Tony Lefever took the Open Amateur short-track win with a
start-to-finish run over TT winner Colby Chandler. Chaz
Landers worked his way up from the back row to nail down
third, over Nathaniel Vowell and Kyle Kelly.
Stevie Nace swept the Mad Dog mains, as well as the Open
Pro-Am class. Spencer Shoff briefly led the Pro-Am short track
before Nace moved to the front. Shoff put in a good ride to
hold off Landers and Lefever for second.
Michael johnson had to come through the field to take the
250cc Amateur IT win but led the short track from the start to
sweep the class. johnson also pulled off double wins in the
160cc Four-Stroke class.
Vowell absconded with the holeshot in the 200cc Pro-Am
TT and held off constant challenges from Hayden Gillim to take
the narrow victory. johnson and Jake Lewis were a close third
and fourth, with Nikki Spore, Chandler and Frankie Lee Gillim
filling out the finishing order.
Lewis took off and split for the 200ec Pro-Am oval win,
while johnson moved into second from the penalty row. Vowell
filled in third, over Frankie Lee, Chandler, Hayden and Spore.
Lewis then went on a tear as he scored both the short-track
and TT wins in the 6Scc, 8Scc and 200cc Amateur classes.
Randy Blackwell held off Super Senior winner Kelly Klynstra
and Ron Anderson to win the Senior class, and then added the
Heavy Vintage win to his list.
Thomas Goodnick scored his first win of the series as he
topped Luke Baird and Shaft winner Robert Hall to claim the
50cc Chain class.
