AMA District 14 Indoor MX Series Pro Source Suzuki Miller Wheels to the Win By BART NEWMAN TECUMSEH, MI, DEC. 11 V ristopher Miller was strong all night long on l'J,is new Suzukis, nailing down big wins in both the I25cc Junior and 125cc B classes. and grabbing four wins in four tries along the way despite tough competition in both classes. Miller shot off the line in the first 12Scc B mota and never looked back. He was blazingly fast in the whoops, turns and rhythm sections of the well-laid-out Pro Source Suzuki track. That speed carried him to an easy win over Trip Harrington. Jeff Thompson and Nickolas Boley. who went at it tooth and nail all mota long. Joshua Marsh rode in fifth. In moto two Miller, proved his mota-one win was no fluke by running off from the pack once again to seal up the overall, turning in an almost mistake-free mota for his second win of the night. Harrington found himself in second, while Thompson and Boley were doing battle over third, which helped Harrington open up a slight cushion and cross the line in the runner-up spot. Thompson misfired on the last lap, opening the door for both Boley and Marsh to get around him, which meant third overall for Boley. On the little bikes, it was Jacob Edison taking home the big gold in the 50cc Shaft class. while Bradley Baker was the king of the 65cc (10-1 I) class. Jacob Edison had his Cobra out front in both 50cc Shaft motos. This young lad was rolling quickly and smoothly, attacking the turn and getting big air over the jump-filled facility. Tristan Van Wieringen was second all night long; he is certainly staying sharp this winter, with an eye on a top finish once the AMA District 14 Outdoor MX season gets under way in March. The first two riders were set in the same positions in both matos, but the race for the last podium spot was anything but boring, as several rider took a shot at it. In moto one, Tanner Marshall turned a great start into a solid third-place finish, but some tough luck in moca two dropped the speedy Delton. Michigan. pilot out of the overall mix. Indoor MX regular Mitchell Harrison overcame a rotten first mota by storming back in moto two and placing third with a spirited ride to grab the last step on the box, behind Edison and Van Wieringen. Baker came from Ohio to take part in some indoor Michigan MX action, and it wasn't a wasted trip, as the KTM rider took on all comers to earn the 65cc (10-1 I) overall via a two-mota sweep. Second place in both motos belonged to Garret Gilbert, who was riding well but just couldn't match the speed of Baker. Third overall went to Jarred Cooper (4-3). who outdueled Zackery Anderson (3-4) in the second mota to claim that spot; these two kids rode a great race, and it could have easity gone either way. T take the Sportsman win at the fourth round of PERRIS, CA, DEC. 11 Trailing the leader by two points after the first I loop, Ron Quitoriano came from behind to Jonathan Beck, and Quitoriano never regained 36 By DAVE JACKSON KEARNEY, NE, DEC. 11 the ITS Winter Series. Verg McCallister easily bested the Novice competition, and the fatherand-son team of Anthony and Ryan Sandoval won the Expert and Masters classes, respectively. CFPracing.com Fall Arenacross Tour Round 4: Cornhusker AMA Arenacro.s RESULTS ITS Winter Series Round 4: Trio/s Land By PERRIS HILLTON the lead until the final section of the trial. Going into the final section, a challenging hillside trap that combined tight turns and a rocky uphill/downhill, Quitoriano trailed Beck by a point. Beck dabbed once and Quitoriano cleaned it, putting them both at eight points for the event. When the tie-breaking cleans were counted, Quitoriano easily won with a dozen cleans to Beck's eight. The fight was also tight in the Intermediate class. Chase Harker led by a point over three riders after the initial loop and protected that lead with a one-dab second loop. Harker dropped two points on section four, a section he had cleaned twice, putting him in a tie with Neil Needham. Facing the last section, which hadn't been cleaned by any Intermediate due to a nearly impossible-for-the-c1ass turn at the top of the section, Needham took just a single dab, while Harker struggled to a three, dropping him into second place for the event. Leavittation-sponsored three-time National Champion Lane Leavitt came out to do some footpeg testing and cruised to an easy win in the Advanced class, as the early-'70s champ took only one dab on the event. The battle for the runner-up spot was intense, with three riders dogfighting. Chris Cullins and Andrew Oldar sealed their fates with c:1abs on sections two and three on the last loop, allOWing Storz Performance's Eric Storz to take second place despite a two-point bobble on section four. Mike Cates won the Vintage class with a he fourth stop on the CFPracing.com Fall Arenacross Tour was very exciting, to say the least, as riders from five Midwestern states made their way to the AMA-sanctioned arenacross inside the Buffalo County Expo in Kearney, Nebraska. In front of a sold-out crowd, Pros and Amateurs took it to the edge for some very close racing - so close, in fact, that five heat races and four mains were decided on the last lap! In the 125ce Pro main, Travis Hodges from Omaha, Nebraska, took top honors after a back-and-forth battle with Topeka, Kansas, rider Corey Francis. However, Francis was not to be denied in the 250cc Pro main, taking the win after trailing Hodges in the early going. Chad Lile of Lincoln. Nebraska. took second, while his brother Ryan took fourth, putting Hodges in third at the finish. In the 125cc Intermediate contest, Sunflower State rider Herbie Johnson from Topeka, Kansas, rode to the win after passing Sean Ridgeway late in the race. Nat Love took third, and the rest of the field had a hard time keeping up. When it came to the 250cc Intermediates, Ridgeway learned from his 125cc Intermediate experience and grabbed the win. The 125cc and 250cc Novices was dominated by the Colorado contingent, with Troy Boles of Elbert, Colorado, winning both and Joey Olsen of Littleton, Colorado, finishing second in both. In the Beginner division, Kyle Richards won the 125cc class and finished third in the 250s, behind winner Austin Moyer and runner-up Corey Brudigan. The 85cc class was full of youngsters who kept their throttles pinned and took doubles like they were nothing. Another Nebraska rider took it all. as Chris Cochran held off Tyler Fishner from Greeley, Colorado, for the win. Corey Langenfeld was a close third. In the 65cc main, Tanner Oetting of Council Bluffs, Iowa, ran away with the first-place trophy. followed by Tyler Gorski and Jeff Fisher. Two separate 55cc classes gave the Pee Wees some excellent experience on the very technical track. Allex Duncan took off with the win in the SScc (4-6) class. and "hometown boy" Dillon Cloyed won the S5cc Open class. RESULTS 55 (4-6): t. Alex Duncan; 2. Cody Ballard; J. Preston Taylor. 4.
