The morning started off with an unclassified race to give the racers an opportunity to get a firsthand look at the course. The biggest challenge of the morning was the frozen ground; with the week-long rain and snow storm, the course became a challenge for riders. On the mo[Ocross course, many of the technical jumps were just made into rolling hills due to the lack of drainage on the face of the jumps. The Sportsman Cycle/Motorex/Thorl Precision Concepts/Renthal-backed Tallon Taylor set out on mission. The Experts left the gate first, and the Amateurs left one minute later for an hour-long battle on the SNDR GP course. Amateur rider Taylor jumped out front fast and began to pick his way through the Expert riders. By the halfway mark. Taylor had gained the overall leader. With that, the Supermini Amateur piloted his KTM to first overall and first in his class. Crater, and both riders went down in a heap. Crater got rolling again the fastest and then enjoyed a large lead to the finish, capping off a I-I sweep. Terlecki fended off challenges from San nan throughout the moto to net second, and second overall. followed by San nan (4-3). Lacey (2-5) and Johnson (5-4). Lacey and Terlecki filled the first and second positions at the start of the first 12Scc Pro moto, while Crater got off to a bad start and, after plugging his rear wheel with banners, called it a day in the class. Lacey held a slim lead over Terlecki throughout the moto, while Sannan and Johnson, the third- and fourth-place finishers, were several bike lengths behind. Rose, Ehnat. Boehm, Kavaney, Carter and Doni Wanat rounded out the top 10. Lacey grabbed the lead at the start of mota two. followed by Kavaney, Terlecki and Boehm. Kavaney. though. fell back through the ranks and eventually finished seventh. MotoSports Outlet/MSR-backed Lacey put in another great ride to earn the overall win. Terlecki's consistent 2-2 finishes earned him second overall. while Johnson (4-3). San nan (3-5) and Ehnat (6-4) finished out the top five overall. RESULTS Todd Gould (85) bested Mark Frehner in an exciting Over 30 Expert race at the sixth and final round of the MRAN Grand Prix Series in Cedar City, Utah. "I just want to thank SNDR for putting on a fun, tight and very challenging race," said Taylor. In the Over 30 Expert division. Todd Gould and Mark Frehner battled for one hour in one of the most exciting races in a long time. Gould. on the new 2005 KTM 450. would pull a lead on Frehner on the desert section; then Frehner. riding the new 2005 Suzuki RM2S0. would close the gap down to a bikelength on the motocross section. "I used every rider we would lap to my advantage," Gould said. "I would wait to make the pass on a lapper until right before the turn, and I was hoping to put a second or two on Mark." Frehner made a run at Gould with one lap to go but stalled the bike in a corner before entering the motocross section, ending his chances for the win. Gould earned first overall and first place in the Over 30 Expert class, and Frehner earned second in the Over 30 Expert class and second overall. Day two of the SNDR Grand Prix was snowed out, which forced the club to cancel the final day of the final round of the 2004 MRAN Grand Prix Series. Northwest Arenacross Nationals Round 4: Exposirion Arena Crater, Lacey Lasso Salem Wins By CLAY LIGHT SALEM, OR, NOV. 21 regon's Ty "Tiger" Lacey and Washington's Greg Crater collected the bulk of the Proclass purse at round four of the Lee Collinspromoted Northwest Arenacross Nationals, held at Exposition Arena on the Oregon State Fairgrounds. Lacey, riding a Honda, won both 12Scc Pro matos, leading fellow Oregonian Ryan Terlecki and Washington's Tracy Johnson into the top three. Crater, also piloting a Honda, duplicated Lacey's feat, but in the 2S0cc class. Lacey was Crater's closest competition in the class. but the two riders tangled in mota two and Lacey fell. In Lacey's demise, Terlecki, who was riding a newly acquired Suzuki, picked up second overall, followed by rookie Pro Pete Sannan, the third-place finisher. Sannan, in only his second race as a Pro rider, grabbed the lead at the start of the opening 250cc Pro mota, followed by Crater, O Lacey. Johnson and the rest of the field. The 17year-old from Albany opened up a huge lead early in the mota, leaving Terlecki and Lacey to battle for second. The 4S0cc KTM rider was impressive as he pulled away from AMA National and Supercross regulars Crater, Terlecki and Lacey, but on lap eight San nan made a costly error that dropped him to third at the finish. "I totally blew a corner," San nan said. "By the time I got going again, Crater, Ty and Ryan had all got by me." Crater picked up the win, while Lacey got the best of Terlecki in the later stages of the race to pick up second, followed by Terlecki, Sannan, Honda-mounted Johnson and Philip Ehnat. Washington riders Tyler Kavaney, Brett Boehm, David Rose and Garhett Carter completed the top 10. Mota two was spotlighted by a Crater/Lacey showdown: The two spent much of the moto in a bumpfest until Lacey tried to shut down The Over 30 Expert class was ruled by local Pro Eric Loney, who looked unstoppable as he put on a two-mota riding clinic. Second place was taken by a "mystery rider" who failed to leave his name; he went 2-2 for second. Taking third was Kory Crippen (4-3). Jason Rawlins showed flashes of speed. but a slightly wild riding style might have held him back, as he had to settle for fourth on a 3-4 score. Rounding out the top five was Brad Parnell (5-5). The Women and Pit Bike riders ran together again, which made for an interesting scene. Top Women's class competitor Traci Fleming added yet another win to her resume, topping both motos seemingly with ease. Finishing second was Shannon Carter (2-2). and Samantha Petrich (3-3) took third. Candice Adsero (4-4) finished fourth. and Cassidy Bragg (5-5), fresh out of the 6Scc class, placed fifth. Winning the Pit Bike class was Xtreme-mounted Justin Wharton (I-I), who finished in the middle of the Women's class. Second in class went to XR70 rider Forrest Wagner (2-2).
