Ohio's jimmy Berg and "Rocket Robin"
McClain had their hands full with Niagara Falls,
Canada, native Jason Michael in the 250c( B
division. While Berg edged away slightly in both
motos, the battles for second between McClain
and Michael were sights to behold. It was a
KTM-rwo-stroke-vsAour-stroke battle that saw
McClain narrowly top Michael for second
overall. That finish also garnered McClain first
overall in the series points race by just one point
over the injured Andy Sczypta. Berg led Michael
to the checkers in the Collegeboy division, and
McClain topped both the Over 2S and Over 30
NB Vet classes.
The 12Scc B class is usually a must-watch
race, and this day proved no different, with
Beaver Falls. Pennsylvania's Matt Knowlson
taking the first-mota win and the overall against
a very competitive field. George Baker III
jumped out to the lead and narrowly edged out
the victory in the second moto, over KTM-
mounted Kenny Henry and first-moto winner
Knowlson, but his first-moto fitch knocked
Baker down to third overall. Patrick Whiteman
and Thomas Beckett rounded out the top five.
On the small bikes, West Virginian Stephen
Gretchen topped the SOcc (4-6) crowd on his
KTM SO, and he also scored big in his 65cc racing
debut by taking the victory in the 6Scc Beginner
dwision. Shane Unton of Austintown, Ohio, put
his Suzuki 65 into second, behind Gretchen, and
he was followed by the consistent Jake Adkins in
third to round out the Beginner podium.
