the Pipsico 100. Yamaha rider Jason Greer
was the first AA rider to hit the woods,
with Honda rider Travis Jones, Suzuki rider
David White and Yamaha rider George Greer

going into lap two, but soon a tight section of
trees brought him to an abrupt stop. George
found a more open line and took the lead, with
Norwood and Jason right behind him.
Norwood paused for a gas stop. and White slid
by to chase the Greers.
As the brothers charged into the fourth
lap, they came to a section where the trail
split, with a main line and an alternate line.
George took the main line, and Jason took
the alternate, which was just enough to put a
front wheel ahead of his brother. On the
white-flag lap, the two were running fender
to fender when George went inside Jason
during a straight section, edging Jason out
going into the tight trail. George finished with
the overall win; Jason was right behind him
for the AA-c1ass win.
"I feel sorry for those guys that left before
the main race," said one spectator. "That was
one of the most exciting races of the year!"
White came in a minute behind Jason to
score third overall and enough points to win the
AA-c!ass championship - his last championship
win was in 1984, 20 years ago!
Norwood's debut in the AA class netted him
fourth overall, 20 seconds behind White.
In the 200cc A class, KTM rider Jason
Hedrick took the holeshot but slid into a line
that took him far down on an off-camber tum,
and KTM rider Josh Gray took a higher line to

slip by. While Gray worked on stretching out his
lead, KTM rider Ray Faddis got by Hedrick in a
fast line in the woods. Gray came through for
the win more than three minutes ahead of
Faddis. Hedrick held on to third.
In the Four-Stroke A class, Suzuki rider
Chad Woods was first into the woods but
succumbed to bike troubles on lap two. KTM
rider Brandon Nero took the lead and held on
to it for the win. Yamaha rider Andrew
Williams took second. KTM rider Ted
Marriner and Husqvarna rider Jason Balonis
battled for third; when Balonis crashed on a
series of roots, Marriner took a line around to
grab third.
Honda rider Heather Whaley, the season's
dominant rider in the Junior Mini Women's
class, passed Yamaha rider Lori Dusky on lap
two for the lead, showing everyone that she'd
learned a lot about fast riding while racing in the
Horizon races. Dusky came in a few seconds
behind Whaley for second. Kawasaki rider
Heather Greer worked her way up from a
mid pack start to take third.
