As with all of Metropolitan Choppers' customized bikes, the 84 Lumber Bike is a handcrafted, one-of-a-kind creation reflecting the passions and personality of the bike's owner. "We were inspired by visits to the local 84 Lumber in Frederick, MaJYIand. and set out to design a bike that reflects the 'bare bones: working man's construction supply house in every detail. from the look of the brushed metlll frame, nail handlebars, tool belt seat. drillbit shifter linkage. the plumbing pipe exhaust and the crowbar kickstand," said Rick Hill. president of Metropolitlln Choppers. Other tool and lumber design details include the brushed-aluminum shop light headlight housing, hammer wheels, shovel head scoop and masonry trowel mirrors. The paint job is all about lumber, with the oil tllnk painted to resemble a piece of wood, and the fuel tllnk and fenders painted as hardwood flooring planks. Metropolitan Choppers also incorporated Mr. Hardy's low of cigars and passion for golf into the bike's design. The 84 lumber Bike's gas tllnk was modified to incorporate a agar humidor, complete with Spanish cedar and humidity gauges. The hinged humidor lid is secured with a golf tee. The bike also includes the "Fat Bird" logo from Mr. Hardy's five-star resort in Pennsylvania, Nemacolin Woodlands Resort and Spa. Nemacolin Woodlands is site of the 84 lumber Classic PGA Tour event.
