That same year, Lawson rode for Giacomo Agostini's (pictured behind Lawson and Prost) Marlboro Yamaha team, with Kel Carruthers turning the wrenches, and he collected his first of four 500cc Grand Prix titles. Prost won the Monaco Grand Prix for Marlboro McLaren that weekend but was only awarded 4.5 points instead of the normal nine due to the race being stopped prematurely because of rain. Those 4.5 points ended up costing Prost the title by half a point (72 to 71.5) to Niki Lauda at the end of the season. Prost went on to win four Formula I World Championships. Terblanl:he Visits Beantown Pierre Terblanche, director of Ducati Design, made a four-day visit to the United States in November and was hosted by U.S. DESMO Ducati Owners Club, along with the Society of Automotive Engineers, New England Chapter, and with support by the northeast regional Ducati dealers, including: Eastern Cycle Ducati, BCM MotorSports Ducati, North American Warhorse Ducati, Riverside Ducati and SuperMoto Italia. Pierre's presentation, titled "Ducati - The Art and Design of the Italian Motorcycle," was made before two capacity audiences, at the World Trade Center in Boston, Massachusetts, and at the Larz Anderson Museum in Brookline, Massachusetts. Tereblanche guided each audience through a visual presentation of never before seen images illustrating the process of motorcycle design. He offered a close-up look at the Ducati design studio, along with sketches, computer generated graphics and modeling techniques demonstrating the prototyping steps resulting in Ducati motorcycles. These incorporated the most recent Ducati models Terblanche was responsible for designing, including the Super Mono, MH900E, Multistrada, the entire new line of Sport Classics and, of course, the 999 Testastetta Superbike. He did a book signing and added his signature to the custom North American Warhorse Ducati 999S - a bike also signed by factory Ducati Superbike rider Eric Bostrom. The Warhorse Signature Ducati is displayed at the Scranton dealership and will tour U.S. motorcycle shows and events in 2005. 128 JANUARY 12, 2005 • CYCLE NEWS From left: JeH Stein, the event's major sponsor and former Yankee Beemer's president; Steve Keegan, Eastern Cycle Ducatl; John ROlli, event organizer and U.S. DESMO northeast regional representative; Ron Prevo", Ducatl area sales manager; Pierre Terblanche, director of Ducatl design; Jim Calandro, U.S. DESMO president; and Tom Truskolaski, U.S. DESMO.
