By BOBBY DAVANPORT CROFTON, KY, OCT. 30 T he Northwest Maieo & CZ I Pro-Flo PostVintage Motocross Series' 15th round was hosted by 800 MX Park. The Americ an Historic Racing Motorcycle Associat ion-sanctioned event attracted riders from throughout the United States and Canada. Many riders cap tured multiple class wins at the western Kentucky race facility, which was hosting its first AHRMA national event. Dave Mechler apparently liked the track's layo ut , as he piloted his 198 3 Husky to a sweep of both motos in the highly competitive Over 40 Inte rmediate class. Mike Br ilia nt l kept Mechler within reach th ro ughou t the day bu t was never able to reac h t he checkered flag ahead of the speedy Illinois resident. Ted Keating , James Cochran and Jo hn Munich battled throughout both matos, with Keating and Munich trading third- a nd fifth-place finishes, arou nd Cochran's 4-4 tally. Mechler and Brillanti again staged a war on wheels in the Gra n Prix 250cc Intermediate class. Brillanti smoked the competition, earning a convincing opening -moto win on his very fast 1980 Honda CR250 . Mechler decided that he had seen en ough of Brillanti's ro ost in mota one , so he turned the throttl e eve n furthe r en ro ute to his mot a -two victory. Keating emerged to take the runner-up position, ahead o f Bril ianti , in race two . Mechler 's 2- 1 perfonnance topped Brillanti's 1-3 tally to eam the overall class victory. Robert Neeley tumed the fastest lap times of the day as he captured victories In the Over 40 Expert and Gran Prix 500cc Expert classes . Nee ley 's vic tories e nsured t hat he wou ld maintain his present points lead in both classes . Oscar Gaetan. Mlck Mila kOV iC, Mark Mitche ll, Mark Thurman and Larry Town ing we re also members of "do uble dip" fraternity, as each ri der earned top ho no r s In two classes .
