Blais Scares Up Ghost Rider Win

Rider Enduro provided a full day of en tertainmen t on Saturday wi t h the ir Uti Goblins
Kids Ride , a po ker r un presented by t he
United End uro Associat ion , and a live band
and r affle in t he evening.
Chris Blais and Paul Krause have been
battling in th e Fo ur-St rok e Expert class in
e very d ivision o f Dist rict 37 events, and
th e y have move d th eir little w ar into the
Enduro Se ries as well. Krause knew he was
in for an uphill bat tle when he dr o pped two
minutes o n the th ird che ck on Sunday.
"I calculated my mileage fro m th e che ck
befo re and got caught in with some slower
riders," Krause ex plained of the costfy error. "I
was caught in some dust, and all of a sudden I
saw the check. and all the gears In my head
meshed. I was 45 seconds hot com ing into the
check and I had l2feetto go."
Krause was able to scrub 43 seconds off
by slammi ng into first gear on his KTM and
playing a balancing act .
"I was going uphillin the sand. and I dabbed
my fool," Krause said. "The guys at the check
said, 'Sorry, Paul. you didn't make it.' I simply
goofed up. and it.cost me the endu ro."
Meanwh ile, t he KTM -m o unted Blais,
w ho had started on a mu ch lat e r mi nute
than Krause , w as having his ow n d ifficultie s.
" I was making little m istakes th e entire
tim e," Blais sta ted. " Every on e else just made
some big ones, so that helped me o ut."
Blais had t ro uble on th e th ird loop w hen
he lost the ri bbo n betw ee n th e first and
Cory Dowda, who kept the thrott le pinned on his
Suzuki. Honda rider Brandon Gardner garnered
second overall w ith a stro ng second moto. Dustin
Robinson was railing the corners on his Yamaha,
but the last moto kept him to third overall.
The 60-85cc Pret een class was witness to
th e vanishing act o f David Buller, w ho w on both
mo to on his Ho nda. Adam Root used his fast
KTM t o take seco nd o ve ra ll. Suz uki jock e y
Dylan How ell earned the final pod ium spot.
The 125cc C class saw Richie Gibson w in his
first overall o n his fast Kawasaki. Y

Jeremy Pe ndley just moved up to C class. and he
put in a good ride o n his Yamaha of Do raville spo nsor ed machine for his first C -c1ass podium.

tro phy. Kawasaki-mounted Michae l Smith took
the final pod ium spot.

rec oun ted . "We did a litt le circle and finally
got back o n track."
Blais' littl e mist ake s pro ved to be no t
too cos tly, and he turn e d in the best time
fo r the day and sec ure d the overall w in and
first place in the Fo ur-Stro ke A division.
"The Blais brothers an d I have be en
really going at it in the Four-Stroke divisions
t his yea r, a nd I re ally ne e de d thi s w in,"
