Oregon Sto te Mo to cro ss Cha mpion ship Series Round 3: Madras Mo tocross See's Spot: Running at the Front By CLAY LIGHT MADRAS, OR, OCT. 9 S o ut he rn O regon sp eedste r William Se e came, saw and conqu e red t he competiti on at round three o f the six-ro und Oregon State Mot oc ro ss C ha mp io nsh ip Se ries at Madras Mot ocross. Riding a Suzuk i, Se e sco red t he ove rall 8Scc ( 12- 13) and Super mini-class wins on the high dese rt , bot h via 1·1 sweeps. See has risen to the top of the ranks in the 8S c c class of la t e a nd , desp ite t o ug h com pet ition fro m to p-level competition fro m all over the state , the rider from Medford held off all challen gers, even overcomi ng poor starts before collecting his dual class wins. See 's first of two ove rall wins on the day came in the com bined 85cc Age Group classes, where his main competition came from fellow southern O regon rider Ian Martin. While Martin was faster at the start, persistence prevailed for See, who trailed Martin for several laps before o utjumping the Y amaha rider and then doing a vanishing act . See did the same in bot h mot os to sweep the 8Scc ( 12- 13) class, while Martin (2-2) finished seco nd overall, ahead of local KTM rider Derrick May (4-3), Kyle Hammontree (3-4) and Washington's Ky Ulrich (6-5). le Mart in and See we re the to p performers in the Superm ini class as we ll, but in the end. See again prevailed. See was one of the few riders in th e class - a nd t hroughout th e day, for that matter - to jump the massive triple-jump section . which greatly aided in his seco nd win of the day. Martin (2-2) placed second overall, trailed by Lemmon (4-3), May (5-4) and Ulrich (6-6). Another rider to net do uble -class-w inne r st atus was Wash ington's Nick fo ist er, w ho made the trek fro m Che halis to win t he I2Scc and 2S0cc Pro classes and was most likely the fast est rider o f th e da y. Several ride rs gave Fo ist er a ru n fo r hi s mon e y, na mel y Int e rm e d ia t e ri d ers Ma tt W ilso n and Ben Anglen. Foister placed well inside the top 10 at seve ra l Wes tern Four-Stroke Nat io nals t his year, as well as at the final round of the White Fo ur-St r o ke Wo r ld MX 8 ro t he rs Championships at Albany (where he placed fifth ove rall). W ilson gave it all he had, but in the end, experience pre vailed and Foister finalized his two-class sweep w ith a win over Wilson in the 250cc Pro/Interm ed iate class. The Suzuki-mou nted Anglen captured a pair of overall Inte rmediate -class wins, posting the 125cc and Be fo r e T he Hill-class victo ries . Anglen traded mot a wins with Wilson in the 125cc Intermed iate class , but the fo r me r minicycle champio n outlasted Wilson in the two Before The Hill Inter me diate motos to garner one of the few do uble-class wins on the day. The re were several close battles, but few were closer than those of R.J. leach and Alyas Wardius in the 65cc classes. The two KTM riders stayed in close formation in both 65cc Open motos, with Wardius winning both contests. The 65cc Age Group classes we nt in favor of Leach. des pite a similar lineup of riders. Leach and Wardius were contest ing separate classes, but it was 6Scc (0-8) ove rall w inner Leach collecting the checkered flag first in both motos . RESULTS P/W (0 -6): I.
