and the n Gibso n and Cr egg passed him an d

Meanwh ile, last year 's AA cham pion, Blair

would hea r him in the distance , but then he
would wick it up just eno ugh to stay in third.
Be rs ano finished in fourt h, whi le Masch ino
took fifth.
"I thought maybe I'd let those guys clear
the path for me, instead of being In the front all
the time," Maschino said. "They did a good job
at clearing the trail, but I wished they cou ld've
cleared the dust for me a little bit better."
Cox Promotions tried. Throughout the day,
they had water trucks soak some of the trail, and
the y did a great job at laying out a nice 9-mile
course that consisted of tight sections, a little bit
of fields, and what seem ed to be one lonely mud
eN
puddle that equaled everything out .
