Nestled in the hills so uth of Ch arlotte, t his 14 ~tu rn co urs e in Ke rs haw, A Sout h Carolina, was the site of the 12th round o f AHRMA road racing - the pe nultimate ro und before th e final at Barber Moto rsports Park. Satu rday's ra cing saw t he Pre -1940 class take t he gr een flag in t he fir st wave. W ill Ha rdi ng mad e his move early, grabbing t he hole shot on his 1936 Ind ian. Hard ing opened up a co mm andi ng lead early, w hile Art Farley put h is ha nd -s h ift Har ley in se co nd . Ral p h Wessell roun ded out the podium . Ha rd ing r epeat ed his w in o n Sunday, enabling him t o keep his numb e r-o ne plate for another year. Batt le o f th e Tw ins fo llow ed. Mark Hatt en grabbed first place o n his Duca ti and o pened a sizable lead en ro ute to the win. Moto Guzzi- ride rs. As the laps wo und down , Miles pulled up o n Hall's tail. He slipped past Hall on th e final lap to take the wi n. Ern est Hilto n too k th ird on his 1953 No rton. David Temple put his 1972 Y ama ha in the lead in Sportsman 750cc competition. T im lile pus hed his Triumph to m at ch Te mple's pace, bu t he was unable to close t he gap. BMW· mounte d Brad Phillips pushed th ro ugh a pac k of rid ers and ca ught Lile o n lap five. Temple repeated his win fro m Saturday to ex te nd his cham pio nship lead. Although the racing e nded ea rly, every one was loo king fo rw a rd to t he final at Barbe r Motorsports Park.
