For a Saturday race, the turn out was very high. The big hitt e r in t he 125cc B clas s was Yama ha ri der Vic to r King , who put in a n awesome ride. With his mom , Carol , at the side of t he tra ck chee ring for him, he rou nded the circuit with almost perfect form . It is said that everyone has his or he r day, an d t h is was certai nly one of his. In the first mot a . King put his Yamaha ou t front and was gone . Behind him, the battle was between Kawasak i ride r Matt Boggess and Honda ride r Ki rt Mon k. Wit h bot h ride rs o n 250s , it was goi ng t o come down to wh o wa nte d it wo rse for t his mota . In t he e nd , Monk crossed the line, with Boggess third. In the seco nd mo to , King aga in had his Yamahaout front and gone , building his lead. "I'm glad to see him doing so good," Carol said while watc hing the race, "but I am nervous till t he en d of th e ra ce, be cause yo u never know ; he could go down ." Behind King, Boggess was having a bad day: He wen t down and had to work his way back toward t he front. Boggess put in a grea t ride . making so me co o l passes, but he ran out of t ime and at t he en d of the mo to ended up fifth. In fro nt of Boggess, t he bat t le w as on be tw een two Hon da CRF2S0 ride rs, Monk a nd Bryce Bow man . In the end, Bo w ma n crossed the line in second . w hich gave him third overall. Monk finished th ird, which gave him second overal l. Th e real big hitters co nteste d t he FourStroke class. With big cash on the line, these guys were o ut fo r blo od . Dixie MX Mcinnis Dusts 'em at Dixie By HUGH GATLIN OZARK, AL, SEPT. 2S n an 85-degree Saturday afternoon, Enterprise, Alabama's Alex Mclnnis dusted the competition in the 250cc C class at Dixie MX. The 36-year-old co mbined his year s of experie nce and the powe r of his YZ4S0 to hold back challenges from eage r teenagers in both motos. Mcinnis led co ming off the line in mot o one but missed a gear in the first turn and drifted wide . Shane Cox shot past and held the point until he fell. Mcinnis ro de past the YZ ride r, with C R ride rs T.j. Ogelsby and Don Bush in tow. Mcinnis gave himself an edge by clearing the tr iple on the front stra ight on every lap and then cr uised to the che ckers ahead of Ogelsby. Cox remo unted and chased Bush to the finish. Mcinnis started up front in race tw o but the n stalled on lap two . Ogelsby closed in and made a n inside pass for th e le ad. A calm Mcinnis stayed close and then rode to victory when O glesby w e nt down. Cox improv ed to finish seco nd. but it was n't e nou gh to beat Ogelsby for second overa ll. Protests concerni ng rider ability and double jum p ing alte red th e final r esul ts in t he 12Scc/2S0cc D class. Chris Crumb nabbed the holeshot in the first moto , with Doug Brow and Cox in hot pursuit. Co x pressured Brow and made the pass o n lap three . Ne xt, he cut into Crumb's lead before falling. Crumb's KX was four sec o nds ahead of Bro w , who b a rel y survived a last-chance pass attempt by Cox in the final corner. Adam Robbins ran fourt h t he e ntire distance. Crumb grabbed a close holeshot , ove r Cox and Brow, in mota two . Co x overtook Cru mb at the e nd of lap one, wit h Brow kee ping t he leade rs in sight. Cru mb moved back out front. O The duo ra n bar to bar over t he finish-line ju m p, made contac t and se nt the flagge r scrambling for cover. Cox remained in con trol and scored an eight-second win. jeremy Richard led jody Cook and jonathan White in the first co mbined Youth mota . Co ok dived under Richard at t he e nd of a lo ng stra ight. but the Ho nda ride r answered back wit h an immed iate repass over a tab letop . Co ok regained t he lead and co llected a foursecond win aboar d his YZ 125 . W hi te enco unte re d eng ine t rouble o n the final lap, givi ng Josh Brown third place. Race two saw Richard, Cook and W hite running three abreast co ming ou t of tu rn two . Brown we nt down in the back sectio n. Co ok moved o ut front at t he en d o f lap one a nd posted a huge win. Richard cr ashed in a cloud of dust but the n came back to tag Brown for t hird late in t he race . Wh it e nearl y t ipp ed over at the top of t he final berm, but he held on to secon d. s. Ripple shot to the front and se t a pace that had neve r been seen at South Fork befo re. Ripple r ipp ed up t h e tra ck in every cor ne r a nd stra ight. Behi nd Ripple , Ho nda ride r De re k Leist wa s also o n the gas . Leist , w ho is not used to being seco nd, wa s the o nly rider on t he t rac k able to stay in Ripp le's s had ow. Beh ind the Honda riders was Yamaha rider Co ry Schill , w ho has an almost perfect riding y style and is always a pleasure to watch o n t he t ra ck . O n this d a y, ho w e ver, Sc h illy w as o utgunned .
