T his weekend, both t he Vintage Pu shrod
and Women 's classes ran at Lod i Cycle Bo wl. In
th e Vintag e Pushrod clas s, Carter Fishe r to o k
the holeshot and rode to the finish line. After
passing Steve McC ant s on lap four, Ralph Lee
too k second . Ken Heaser came in fourth.
The Wom en's class had a great run. Kimi
Valenti ne worked hard to win th e race, leading
all seve n lap s, but Elizabe th Hoc king (w ho
hadn't race d in months) mad e her move on
Valentine and took the lead just inches before
the che ckered nag! Sam antha Raynal, wh o was
riding just as hard , follow ed close ly.

con test, Ad am H ern and ez. th e onl y 8 r ide r,
too k the sta rt and held the lead for all eight laps
to the finish . Damo n Coca got a great sta rt but
was soo n passed by Joshua Knight, who came in
seco nd. Alec Espos placed third, and Britta ni
West took the fourth spot.
"I jum pe d o ff th e line ," Hernand e z sa id. "I
stayed in firs t for eight laps with a smile on
my face."

not con sistent; his equipmen t setup and tire
choic e was not up to the comp et ition's level.
George Lazor, Hawkins and Gene Bonsigno re

Mark hot o n his trail. In the pits, Mar k had
ta lked about following Kasten until the later laps
But on this night, d uring time trials of th e 16ride r field , he led with a scorching lap of 21.029
second try, Don ho lt again go t o ut of shape and
this time took down Bonsignore , who was just
abo ut into the lead by midcorner. Bonsignore
was a nonstarte r the third time, w ith what
looked like a se ason-ending torn ham str ing.

(2 1.76 3).
In hea t on e , Mark 's brother T.J. Ze idler, o n a
new 4S0cc Yamaha, he ld o ff Kaste n's SOScc
four. O n t he first t ry, Do nhol t and Mittl to o k
ea ch other dow n, causing a restart. O n t he
gapping th e field . His fat he r and tuner, Jo hn ,
was watching, wondering aloud if the rear tire
w ou ld ho ld up fo r the entire eve nt . As Mark
led , his brothe r T.J. started to make gro und up
seco nds · that's abou t an 8S-mph average. The
only other riders in the 2 I-second range were
Semifinal one saw Donholt in gate one , Adam
Mitt l in two, Bonsignore in three and Sephton in
eight h lap . He clo se d up o n Kaste n in second
Yamaha for five of the six laps. Kasten's drive off
the comers put him in the top spo t at the end.
Randy Rum, one of the riders injured at the last
event, strap ped his steel sho e bac k on and
Sephto n wo n eas ily,with Donholt seco nd.
Semi two was won by Parsons, with Legault
se con d , Lazor third and Haw kins fourt h.
The last-chance qualifier was an easy win for
but did not have enough tire left to go past. So,
after a se aso n o f c1ose -but -no -cigar-ty pe
finishes, Mark Ze idler swep t the field at the last
event of the year to put his name in the books

Mitt l, over Haw kins. Lazor and Bons ignore
were nonstart ers .

interesting by touching the tape s and earning a
IO-yard penalty.
