Victory was never sweeter in the eyes of Casey Logan as when the second moto on August 29 secured him his champi- onship and grand prize . T he IS -year-old Lo ga n ha s d isp lay e d st e ad y im prove men t an d focus t hroughou t t he tou r - ro und series . C a lc u la t ing what pos ition he needed to t ake t he t itle , Logan jo ined Josh Dupp o ng, Bryan Rodge rs, Steve jump , Ken ny Inga lls a nd th e other 12Scc j un iors on th e line for th eir firs t mo to o f th e day. Logan's reaction tim e off the gat e was slightly off, and he bo und ed o nto t he track abo ut mid pac k. Rod ge rs a nd th e Ya ma hamo unt ed Du ppo ng t oo k charge at the fr ont and were lightni ng-qui ck . while Logan moved m e ticu lously t hrou gh t he t hro ng of m ore than 20 riders. Th e n, unwilling to settl e for a posit io n that sa fely se cu re d his tit le , he moved in to try for his familiar spo t at the fro nt . Logan passed Rodgers o n t he downh ill and then se t his sights on Dupp ong. Loga n chose, wisely, to go wide on the turn before the scoring tower, and he came out ahead of Duppong. The two we re bar t o bar going over the scoring -towe r jump; Logan pulled ahe a d on t he small straight and c alculated the d ouble jumps perfectly before ta king a command ing le ad. In mo to two, Logan charged up the straight mo re aggressively but still lost the holeshot , to Jump . However, he maneuvered around Jump to cla im t he lead . D up po ng was creeping forw ard, and after passing jump, he challenged Logan arou nd Clubho use C orner. D up po ng passed Logan and seemingly flew up MX39S. However, Logan reclaimed the le ad , and he claimed the win and the overall. as we ll as the champ ionship for 20M! Michael Bran des, Eric Nye , Scott Davis, Beau judge , jeff Simas and Shaw n MacDonald ma de up t he co mpet itive 2S0cc Pr o class. Judge shot o ut of the start gate and claimed the holeshot, as the five riders beh ind him vied for the runne r-up spot . As judge headed up the infamo us uphill , Nye and Brand e s were close be hind . N ye ha d unho ly speed com ing off th e downhill, and his momen tum help ed him sna tch t he lea d fr o m ju dge . Brandes qu ickly did the same, leaving judge to defend th ird position. Brandes close d in on Nye, and w it h t wo la p s t o g o he made his m o ve . Brandes cro ssed the finish line ahead of Nye and judge . MacD o nal d , Da vis a nd Simas ro unded o ut the top six. Mota two saw the riders mixing th ings up a bit. Bra ndes claimed t he holeshot , w ith Davis, Nye and judge close behin d. W ithout having to fight for the lead, Brandes sailed to an easy win. Gr e e r garnered third . Palmer came back with a vengeance in moto two, as he and McCabe stayed neck and neck . ahead of the pack, throughout the race. Palmer pulled off the first -place finish, leaving second to McCabe. Greer accepte d his co nsiste nt thirdplace finish . Keith Dav is a nd Ch uck Greer claimed fourth and fifth.
