Whe n Coo k's Y amaha dro pped him out of conte ntion, Casillas took the lead, po unding his w ay through th e new ly added sec tion o f ste p ups and rhyt hms . Diete r took up the challenge and staged a gre at bar-to-t ire batt le fo r th e lea d unt il his Yamah a sta lled w hile cornering and took foreve r to get start ed again. Simmon, Reid , Carpen ter and Delawar e began th e bat tle for sec on d place , wh ile Casillas was chec king into his own area cod e.
