CMC No rthw e st Su m m e r MX Series Round 9 : Albany Motorsports Park Hill's Hot at ~\!~:;rl' ALBANY, OR, AUG. 14 Y amaha-mounted Washington ian Josh Hill was as ho t as the August weather at Albany Motorspo rt s Park, as the 14-yearold no tched a pair of overall Intermediate -class wins at rou nd nine o f th e C MC Northwest Summer Mot oc ross Ser ies . Hill wen t four (or four in his 125cc and Before The Hill motos to net the o nly dua l-class win ta llyon the day. Josh H ill's brother Jus ti n came clo se to repl icati ng his brothe r' s w in ta lly: The you nger Hill wo n the 65cc Open class and placed second to fe llow KTM rider Brad Frace in the 65cc (9- 1I) class. Frace also came close to a double whammy: After his win in the 65cc class, the Oregon rider came back to tra il jared Wood while con testing the B5cc (9- 11) class, chis time aboard a Yamaha. All sum me r long. jos h has pro ved that he's one of the fastest riders in the Northwest , including the Pro riders . His lap times have be en com parable to those of to p-tie r Pros Ryan Huffman and Just in Kee ney, although he hasn't had a chance to meet e ither o f the m he ad to head, as he 's sti ll two ye ars sh y of garn ering his pro fessional lice nse . Wilson e nde d the day wit h a pair of ru nner -up finishes, with Kevin Pet rushkin placing th ird in both classes. Travis McClinto n just ste pped out of the 85cc ranks after a successful three-year run , wh ich res ulted in a large amo unt of vic t o r ie s for the rid e r from Alb an y. In his 125c c de but , McClinton finished the day wit h a pair of second-place finishes, tra iling Shane Skile s (in the Before Th e Hill Junio r class) and Travis Gie rke (in the 125cc junior class). Wilson's day wasn' t a total was h, as th e rider from Eugene wa lloped the co mpetition in the Fou r-Stroke class. Grant Hays and fo rmer Pro ride r W illia m Jo ry could n' t put a sto p to Wilson's dominating performances, and he finished the day with two secon d-place trop hies and one first-place award - not a bad day, con side ring the level of talent he was up against. Califomian Jake Canada has made infreq ue nt visits to O rego n, but normaJty when he does co me, he comes away with a victory. Canada sw ep t both motos in the co mpe titive Supe rm ini class, altho ugh he had to conte nd with Danny Gubser.
