BY CLAY LIGHT WASHOUGAL, WA,JULY 10 V amaha-mo unted Ryan Huffman was the top I Pro per former at his home track for th e penu ltimate round of the CMC Pac West Nationals. scoring convind ng runaway wins in the 125cc, 250cc and Over 25 Pro classes at Washougal Motocross Park in southwestern Washington. Aided by his fast-start ing prowess, the Pro Circuit/Scott/Washouga l Mo t o c ro ss Parkbacked Huffman won every moto he entered; even Nationally-ranked outdoor Nat io nal and arenacross regulars Ty "Tige r" Lacey. Ryan Abrigo and Brad Hagseth cou ldn't put a stop to Huffman's dom inat ing day. H uffman, from Roseburg, O rego n, pocketed more than $1200 (ro m t he Pro purse. Wa sh ington's Jo s h Hill w e nt o ne step further tha n the mark established by Huffman: T he 14-year-o ld from LaCenter won five classes overall. Rid ing Yama ha YZ2 S0 F and YZ4 S0F mac hinery, Hill w o n every mot o he entered ; like H uff m an's performances. Hill 's were mo st im press ive . Hill' s closest compe tition came fr o m Orego n's A dam Metzler and Kevin Rookstool in the 2S0cc B class. Tony Boughten and Metzle r trailed Hill in his 125cc B win . Hill also netted Schoolboy, Four- Stroke and O pen Amateur w ins. Hu ffman's first of three overall w ins on the day came in the Over 25 Pro class, where he faced Hagse th and fo rme r Nationa l numbe rholde r Da n Moore . Though Moo re and Hagseth sp lit r unner-up finishes, Hagse t h's mo ta-tw o performance netted the ar enacross speci alist second overall. Moore (2- 3), Jaso n Matt hews ( S- 4) a nd Jeremy Sc ism (4 - 5) ro unded out the top five overall. Desp ite getting little re st be tween motos, Huffman sto rmed back 15 minute s later to also captu re the ove ra ll 12Scc Pr o wi n. Altho ugh faced with stiffcompetition , Huffman darted o ut in fro nt in both mo tos and stayed there to the finish, eas ily w inning bo th . Abr igo , Lacey and Suzuki's Cole Siebler we re closes t to Huffman, an d Eve rett Powersp o rt s-bac ked Abrigo and MotoSports Outlet/MSR-sponsored Lacey filled out the to p three. Siebler and Moore finished fou rth and fifth overall, respectively. Huffman's final tes t came in the 2S0cc Pro class, w here he again topped bot h metes w ith re lative ease. Lacey grabbed the initial lead in mo ta one, but it d id n't last more t han a lap before Hu ff man bre e z e d by him . Abrigo overcame a poor sta rt to finish third , ahead of Moo re and Californ ian Josh Cavanaugh. Mota two was anothe r Huffman runaway w in: He ope ned up a large lead and mainta ined it to the finish. Lacey held second fo r much of the race afte r getting around Moo re, but Abrigo caught up to the O rego n rider and batt led fo r several laps befo re an agg ressive move on Abrigo's part se nt Lacey spra wling to t he tu rf. Lacey was then done fo r the day with a broken colla r bo ne . Abrlgo's 3-2 placings netted him second o ve ra ll, fo llowe d by Moore (4- 3) , Idaho's Robb Flo th (7-4) and Cavanaugh (S-6).
