. . . Happ.n'".s in Mo'o"y. "n. Bimota Is Back! At the forthcoming Inte rmot Show in Munich, the historic mar que from Rimini will launch the prototype of its new DBS model. This project was conceived with the am bition to br ing Bimota back to its origins. T he company's design goals included a compact, light and mechanically re fined machine that is completely made in Italy. The dream - which is abou t to become reality - will re-interpret Bimota's tra ditiona l characte ristics, wh ich have left an indelible mark on the history of the moto rcycle with models such as the HBI, KB2 Laser, DBI and othe r designs that have never been forgotten by enthu siasts all over the wo rld. Powe red by a Ducati IDODDS (dual spark) air-cooled engine , this new model presents seve ral de tails that o nly a Bimota can boast, including a tubular steel tre ll is frame with mach ined plates in aircraft alloy, a prev iously unseen tubular composite swing arm and fully adjustable O hlins suspens ion. Th e styling by Se rgio Robbiano enhances the aggressiveness of the DBS by leaving most of the mechanical parts in view - it cou ld be compared to a precious piece of art . In addition to the DBS, Bimo ta w ill also display its current product range co nsisting of the SB8K. (See next week's issue of Cycle News for more details on this bike.) T he SB8Kwill have the best components available, including O hlins suspe nsion, Bre mbo rad ial-mount brake system and O Z wheels. Anothe r bike that will be intr oduced is the new TESI 2D. Th e TESI 2D breaks with tradition via its revolutionary steering system and re presents the com pany's ongoing radical research and develop me nt program . 12 Hour§ of [rab Orchard The Little Egypt Off Road Moto rcycle Club (LEO R) recently sponsored a weekend event with all proceeds going to the Make-A-Wish Foundation . Several events, such as poker runs, raffles, kids races , and a 12-hou r off-road race , resulted in collecting $1600 for the foundation. Combi ned, they rode a total of 180 miles in I I hours and 4S minutes on a rugged six-mile course at the Little Egypt public OHV Recreat ion Area to help raise mon ey for the cause. 100 AUGUST 18,200 4 • CYCLE NEWS 40th Anniversary [ENTIlPA55I After five exciting legs in the western Nps , Centopassi - the motorbike challenge inspired by the versa tility and performance of the Ducati Multist rada - was concluded on july 2S in Saint Vincent. Renato Zocchi (picture d), on a Honda 4S0, was the overall winner of the Competition class and has taken home the grand prize - a Ducati Multistrada - w ith a total of 77 points acquired on the ability trials and time checks along the ro ute . In second place is the winner of last year's challenge, Albe rto Pignat (o n his Ducati Multistrada), w ith a tot al score of 74 points , followed by Guido Zoe chi in third place with a score of S8 points, also riding a Multistrada . Participants of both categories, Competi tion and Iron Biker, have spent five days on the most en tertaining ro ads and challe nging passes of the western Alps. The departure was from Nice; day one saw participants pass by Cagnes sur Mere , Col de Turini, Sospel and Col de Tende to arrive at Limone Piemonte . On july 22, the route from Limone Piemo nte to Sestr iere touched places such as Borgo San Dalmazzo, Vinadio, St. Etienne de TinEe, iI Col de la Bonette, il Co) d'izoa rd, the pass of Mont Genev re, Claviere and Sansicario. On july 23, C1avie re , Villeneuve, Col du Galibier, Albe rtville, Bourg St. Maurice, Bardonecchia and Oulx we re among the places rea ched.
