Nick Mour itsen edged ou t Justin Delaware fo r sec o nd spot, going 3-3 to Delaware's 2-4. In the 2SOc Pro class, Siebler againwent I- I. c Delaware claimed the second podium step with a 3-2 tall , just bettering Beni Williams (2-3), who y too k the final podium spot. So ut h Valley's Chad Wallw o rk and Sam Taylor too k the top spots in the Over 25 Pro class , wi th Wallwo rk go ing I-I an d Taylo r tallying a 2-2 . Michae l Martin edged out the always entertaining announcer, Rod ney Cole , for third; Mart in went 4-3 while Cole went 3-4. Daniel Jo hnso n was able to pull off tw o moto wins in the 125cc Intennediate class. The battle for the final two podium spots was tightly contested , as the next five riders we re all separated by only three po int s. Dust in McCom bs too k second with a 4-2 score, and logan Halsey took third with a 2-S tally . In the 250cc Junior class, Travis Wyss took the overall by sco ring both mota wins. Tyson Co lema n and Kajen Stocke rt both scored a third and a fifth, but Coleman got the nod for second, as his third came in the second moto . Gary Adams used a consistent 2-2 score to top the I25cc Junior class. Cameron O lsen was pro bably t he fastest Junior, but he had some bad luck in the first mota . O lsen was able to satvage an eighth. and he won the second mota, and his 8-1 effons garnered se cond ove rall. Wyss took third overall with a 5-4 score . O lsen to o k t he Open Amateur overall, scoring a 2-1 tally. Darren Jones took seco nd with a 4-2 score , and Reed Tingey showed that consistency pays off and we nt 3-3 for the final pod ium spot . "'"lee Slue Diamond Motoc ross Pork No Sour Grapes for Welch at Blue Diamond Grand Openerl By MATT WOZNEY NEW CASRE, DE, JULY 4 B lue Diamond Motocross Park held its Grand Opening gala on the Fourth of July just outside of Ne w Castle , Delaware. The facility. owned by Greggo and Ferrara Inc.• proved to be second to none, as they debuted their new amusement park, BMX course and motocross facility. As for the racing, which was run by Alan De Carlo, the Pros got to race for a bunch of cash out o f t he $6000 p ur se , provided by Roostin .com. Also, a KX25D was given away, thanks to Powersports East. The big Pro purse drew Experts from around the area who were willing to ge t a han d on that much- needed dough. The rider who too k most of that money home was Tom Welch. The Shenandoah Honda rider swept bot h Pro classes impressively. In t he 12 5cc A class , Welch p ut in I - I finishes for the overall win after com ing back from midpack ea rly on in both moto s. Taking the second-p lace finish was Kevin Brodsky (4-2), who was ab le to beat o ut Crossroad 50 Powersports/MSR rider Dam ien Plotts, who took the third overall spot with 2-5 finishes. This was Plotts' first race back since his gnarly injury at t he Ho usto n Supercross early t his wi nte r. Plotts' teammate Dave Ginolfi (7-3) too k fourth overall. Rounding o ut the top five was the aggressive Stephen Stella, who rode to cons istent 6-6 finishes and was the top twostro ke rider in the class. The 2SDcc A class featured more o f the same, as Welch got in front in both motos and surv ived some nasty first-turn pile ups. Welch won the class, but Stella (3- 3) was a strong second , aboard a Kawasa ki KX250 . Chris Schue ler was an impressive second in the first mo to and took th ird overall w ith his 2-4 finishes. Ginolfi took another fourth overall, and Plans slowed down in the first mota due to fatigue but mustered a second-place finish in the second mota, giving him an I 1-2 tally for fifth overall on the day.
