"Fas t And y" Fortner, the Fast T ime guy th e night before. was his closest challenge r in the 600c c class, with a very quick 2.68I -second ru n. His closest cha llenge for the Fast Tim e , however, came in the Ope n class: Jason North rup br ought his jeff T homas-built YZl220F Yama ha t o the line , w ith assist ance from Jenne r. Northrup twisted the th ro ttle to its full stop position, and the big fou r-cylinder roc ket ed off th e line and blasted up the hill, flying over the breaker at 70 feet . with just the slightest sideways kick on the rear wheel, and carded a 2.6 13-second time - th ree-hundredths of a sec ond slower than je nne r 's time! Northrup d id have a very good day, however - in fact, he a great weekend, claiming a "dou ble double " by taking the wins in both the 7SOcc and O pen classes on each day, runn ing his win streak on the Kawasaki trip le to nine! Matt Pe te r s was also a "d o uble d o uble " w inne r, topping the 2SOcc and 450cc classe s on both daY' . T he Neoga clu b also awards a Fast Time plaque to the fast est of th e Youth riders. "Blazin' Blake" Cappello , riding a KX8 S, took th e plaque on t his day with an outstanding 3.643 -second time to w in th e 85c c Senior Mini class. "jamm in' joe " McGurer was the on ly other Youth rider to br eak into th e th rees. Riding his KX6 5 in the 85cc j unio r Mini class, McGurer squ irted over th e top in 3.942 seconds for th at class w in. Twice Fooshee landed hard on the big infield ste p-up jump, and the second time almo st sen t him over the bars. Th at' s w hen Lacoste mad e his move into the lead, though Fooshee fought him every step o f the way wh ile shak ing off the cobwebs from his wh ip lash . Dufren e eventually mo ved into second, behi nd Lacoste a nd in fr o n t of Wagely and Do d d . Meanwh ile , Foosh ee was pulled out by his dad to see if he was o kay. but he re -joined the race and managed to finish fifth. Fooshee suffered a bad sta rt in the second moto and watched helplessly as Lacoste used a holeshot to run away from Wagely, Dodd and the rest of the pack . Lacoste scored the doublemoto sweep, with Fooshee finishing in fourth, beh ind Wagely and Dodd. T-Do n Le ri lle cased a double and went down w h ile le a di n g the SOcc (4 . 6) class , surrendering the lead to Gage Hutch inso n. Lerille qu ickly remounted but pulled o ff again when he d iscovered a severely be nt brake. By the time he got bac k in the race, Hutchinson had won the first moto en route to his firs t overall victory. " It was my first wi n in the 4 ·6 cla ss ," Hutchinson said. "I'd like to thank my mom and dad , God , and Papa ," th ird. McAvoy cra shed out o f the top five on the last lap, allowing Aitken to take the lead . At the chec kered flag, Aitken was able to hold off the late charge of Purs ell to ta ke the win in th e 2SOcc class. while Andre won the 12Scc class in th ird spot. McAvoy sta yed u p in the second mo to for a victo ry in fro nt of Aitke n, Haffner and Purse ll. Dust in Fooshee got the early le ad in the SOcc Open class , in front of Corey Lacoste and Dillon Dufren e . In th e first moto, they put on the most spirited race of the night, w ith Lacost e show ing a w hee l and Fooshee pulling away, again and aga in . Moto two was much the same, as Thurman absconded with the holeshot again and se t out for the checkers. Aga in , Huett gave chase, followed t his t ime by Randall McKenzie and Dustin johnson. That order remained the sam e to the end, and Thurman scored his first overall of the day. In the Schoolboy class, Th urman once again gated nearly pe rfectly, ge tting ou t fro nt and checking out, and leaving the ba ttling behind him to R.D . , Aust in Hum bard and Cole Shuffield .
