SPRING RUN, PA, JUNE 12
A s he had done two weeks earl ier. Joh n Lewis tho ro ughly
/""'\dominated three classes in the Lexus of Che rry Hill. New
Jersey -sponsored Northeast Regional Nat ional. This eve nt was a
re-rescheduling of the rained-out Williams Grove half mile that
wa s t o have run on Me mo r ial Day. It had o r iginall y be en
announced that. if rained out, the makeup date would be June
19, but the AHA said tha t date would be too late , so in the early
days of June. Path Valley Speedway schedul ed it for a nonpoi nts
event the trac k had sched uled for this da te as a short track.

riders. grabbing a severa l-bikelength lead at the start and pulling

Lew is. e ac h rider had a slightly differen t line. and o n lap six
Wyman took contr ol of second. ahea d of Texter and Heverly.
In the 2S0cc Modified class. Brandon Robinson kept Lewis in
sight and managed to stay upright thr o ugho ut the race . Austin
Greenland. Mike Radley and Wyman followed . in that order.
The weak link in Lewis' arsenal has bee n his "jinxed " Rotax ,
which he used in the SOScc Modified eve nt. It broke two weeks
ago wh ile Lewis was leading. This time , everything went perfectty.
and he easily left Jonathan Reid and Robert Cazillo behind.
Travis Wyman pulle d an upset in t he as c c DT X fina l,
jumping into the lead o ve r Shayna Texter, Pat rick Jaco bsen,
Hayden Avery and Cody Wyman. Jacobsen too k second on the
seco nd lap when Shayna slid off the groove slight ly. bu t he
could n't reel in the flyingTravis.
Most of those riders returned in the 8Scc (7- 11) Modified
event. Jacobsen got a be tter start, leading Dere k Hersh, Travis,
Avery and Brett Pugh. Hersh and Travis battled for secon d early
on , with Travis securing the spo t at the end of lap four.
Robinson too k the 12Scc lead fro m Greenland. Radley and
Shayna. After fighting for the lead in the openi ng laps. Greenland
took the lead at the start of the third lap. They stayed close
thro ugho ut the res t of the final, w ith Rob inson try ing to slip
under off the final turn , but he came up a litt le short .
Th ou gh small in num ber, certain classes had some of the
closest racing of the even ing. Nick Taylor rode the entire Ove r
18 O pe n Twin final with Mike Keane either right behind or beside
him. Mark Stambaugh grabbed the Ove r 40 lead from Joe Dohm
and Jim Chap man and maintained t he same distanc e until his
Yamaha made som e expensive noises and stop ped on the sixth
lap ; Chapm an pressured Dohm to the end .
Cha pman came back for the SOOcc Two-Valve co ntest and
fought Co ry for the lead. Cory ran beside Chapman but co uld
never get in front o n a stra nge-so unding Bue ll that finallyq utt as
they started the final lap.
