"T"he Teddy Taylor Memorial
I was held Saturday night at
Flat Track Race
the Chowchilla
Fairgrounds. Teddy's wife , Dee Dee. their
three children, and their family were all present for this special event.
Returning to racing after a long absence.
Teddy Taylor was sponsored by Pat King for
the last few months of his life. He rode at the
Chowchilla Barn Burner last winter, at Eddie
Mulder's West Coast Flat Track Series events,
at an AHRMA event in King City, and at the
Cow Palace this past May. He was thrilled to
be riding and to be sponsored again . With
Teddy 's passing , Pat King, who had met Frankie
Garcia through Teddy Taylor at the King City
AHRMA event. has decided to sponsor not
only Frankie Garcia but Jess Garcia as well.
King was the driving force behind this day's
memorial event .
Along with Diaz MOlorsports, a group of
people pooled their efforts and resources to
gather up many valuable prizes from several
companies to raffle during the evening's events.
Donors included A&A Racing , KLH Racing
Presents, Motion Pro , Modesto Yamaha, Cycle
Gear, Chowchilla Awards & Engraving, and
many more. Those gifts were combined with
the entry fees for the money races, and more
than $2500 was presented to the Teddy Taylor
Memorial Fund .
The racing began with Frankie Garcia and
Dee Dee Taylor riding a reverse lap aboard the
bike that Teddy last rode. Dee Dee earned the
checkered flag in honor of her husband.
More than 75 riders contested 20 main
events. The track and weather could not have
been better.
Included in the program was a 2SOcc-and Up Money race , with a $SOO purse. Three heat
races were run to pare the riders down to the
12 who lined up for the main event. Coming out
of the second tum. Robert Curry had the lead ,

There was another Money race, for 1000c

Justin Petz had worked his way out of the pack
and begun his pursuit of Frankie . Pen, w ho is
just finishing his first year of riding, rode this
track like he owned it. Catching up to Frankie ,
the two ran side by side turn after tum. Pen,
riding the outside, made good ground and
