EVE'NTS Loretta Lynn's Regional Oualifier Parker Valley Motocross Park The Players Come to Parker Valley By F .B. ATKINSON BELWOOD, NC, JUNE 6 P ar ke r Valley Motocross Park hosted the Southeast Regional Qualifier lor the Amateur National Championship at Loretta Lynn's. All th e players were present. and every gate drop saw some 01 the best rac ing 01 the year so far. If you weren't ready to go when the card went sideways , you had brought a knile to a gun fight. for sure. The track was prepped to the max , and the program ran perfectly. The reg ional featured a three-mete format, and the larger classes had qualifiers and a lastchance qual ifier. wh ich counted as the first moto. Everyone had to qualify to make it to th is regional , so this was a show of the best. and only the top seven would make the jump to Loretta's. Suzuki-moun ted Matt Goerke took the win in the 125cc A class ; Yamaha rider Nicho las Evennou from Maryland had second place in hand. Jacob Saylor. a Tennessee Yamaha rider, was a solid third . The 125cc B division was the property 01 The 250cc A Pro Sport event was owned by Honda's Mike Alessi, who tallied three w ins. Gavin Gracyk edged out his fellow Kawasak i yle rider K Ch isholm lor second overal l. Mike's brother Jeff Alessi took his American Hond a CRF450R to vict o ry in the 250cc B Sto c k contest, ahead of Boni. Suzu ki rider Shane O 'Banion put together a co uple 01 good motos for third overall. When the 250cc B Modified gate fell, jason Lawrence, on a very fast Suzuki, ran away with the class win . Je ff managed to keep second ove rall, and while Boni kept Jell honest, the last moto kept Boni on the third podium step. The 250cc C class leatured a steady performance from Scott Jones , on his way to the overall. Honda -rnounted Matthew Campbell used one moto w in to secure second overall. Yamaha man Eric McCann took third overall to prevent an all-red podium. If this weekend Is any preview, the contest at Loretta's this year will be awesome. All the other regions shou ld take notice and be ready to handle the racers from the Southeast . Parker Valley put on a great eve nt , wit h super pre paration and a properly run program.
