Spring Creek Super Series Round 2: Spring Creek MX Park Jendro Jams at Spring Creek Opener By GEORGE AND KAREN HODKINSON MILLVILLE, MN, MAY 2 S cott Jendr o won the ultracompetitive 2SDcc A class at the season o pe ne r at Sp r ing Creek MX Park . Yet another large crowd of 87 1 e ntrie s came to the scenic facility, w hich has had some more improvements for 2004. Th e sand-w ash se ctio n was not iceably le ss deep than in p ast r aces . So me new uphi lVdow nhili sect ions made up for the lack of sho ulder -deep sand whoops tha t will no doubt be natu rally reappeari ng. Th is wa s also the se co nd round of th e Spr ing Cree k Supe r Seri e s. ( Round one was held last O ctobe r; rounds t hre e and fo ur will take place Memo rial Day Weekend.) The 250cc A class was once again loaded wi t h ta le nt . as 35 rid ers lined th e gat e. Relatively unknown rider Jerad Kerr of Milford , Iowa . got th e holes h o t In m o to one on a CRF4S0R, w it h Mall Maie r of Ha rtford, Wis co nsin, second on an RM2S0. Mike Kann ran th ir d , a nd Ale x Bumgardne r was fourt h . Multitime A-class sta te champ ion Jendro moved up o n th e first lap into fourth, behind Kann, as Kerr an d Maier foug ht for first an d second. Kann took t he le ad o n lap two, and Jendro moved to seco nd . Kerr was t hird , Maie r was fourth , and Ryan Stalberger now ran fifth. Kann, looking solid, finished the five-lap race wit h the moto wi n. Je ndro was a clo se seco nd . Maier was thir d, and flrst -year A rider Trevor Tuma moved int o fo urt h o n la p four. Stalberger rou nde d out the top five. In mota two, Tuma turned a few heads; the IS-y ear-old ride r from Lonsd ale , Minn esot a. gr abb ed the holes hot an d won t he mo t a despite inte nse pre ssure fro m some seasoned A ve terans such as Kann, wh o ke pt the he at on nea rly the entire race . Jen dro started in fou rth but moved up to third , right beh ind Kann and Tuma. On the last lap, Jendr o passed Kann for second , and the overall w in. The finishing order was Tuma, Jend ro and Kann, with Eric Kow alik fou rth a few seconds back. Stalbe rger ro unded o ut the to p five. Hudso n, W iscon sin's Tyler Buckles wo n the 2S0ee B class overall. Malt Gamble from Mora, Minnesota , took t he moto- one holeshot , with Buckles second and Kelly Brow n third. Buckles was le ad ing midw ay thro ugh la p one , a nd Bro w n moved into se co nd. Nick Jackson was t hird by the e nd o f lap one. The t op t hree re mained t he same to th e checkers . Aaro n Bens on o f Boyce ville , Wisconsin, was fourt h, and Ch ase McGrath o f O maha , N e braska , ro unde d out the top five, but neith er of tho se tw o wo uld start mota two. Buckles led mo ta two fro m start to finish. Eric Hughes led the rest of th e 37 riders into tum one , but Brown passed Hughes on lap on e and finished second. Hughes was th ird , wh ich was better than his first-m oto seventh . Jackson slipped back a spot to fourth in this mo ta. Evan Ne itzel of Winchester.
