Just a few short laps into this race , Stoner had worked his way to third overall and was turning lap times within seconds of those of the leaders . On the last lap of this two-hour event, Stoner slippe d by Shen igo somewhere in the woods sect ion , but he lost his front end coming back o nto the grasst rack. Sarona Oaks Garner Garners Some Wins By HOMER EUBANKS RAMONA, CA, MAY 2 A s a heat w ave push ing tem pe ratu res up /""\ne ar triple d igits plowe d its way through Southern California, the rider count dropped to 23 0 at t his wee k's Barona Oaks mo tocr oss. This w as not all bad, as having the wannabes o ut of the way allowed t he remai ning riders to lay down some fierce motocross act ion. Th e Intermed iates ro de wit h the Novice s, and moto one wa s full o f e xcitement , w ith se veral riders go ing do w n early o n. Anthon y Chare tte took th e ov erall w in in t he 12Scc Inte rmed iate race after losing the hectic first moto to Jake Oswald. Charett e took little time taking charge of moto two to earn the overall. T he 125cc Novice class was a ha rd -fou gh t battle in bo t h mo tos . Round one saw Aust in Lam bert avo id t he mayhem and ride to t he che cke rs in fro nt of Michae l Fe rmo ile . In the second mote, Lambert found the to p five ride rs were all eage r and capa ble of winning. Brando n Fo le y had placed third in moto one, and his second-mo to win. over Jack Musick. was good enough for the overall. Fe rmo ile we nt 2-3 on t he day fo r second ove ra ll, and Musick (4-2) edged o ut Lambert ( 1-5) fo r third. Jake Oswald e ntered t he pic ture in th e 125 cc (12 - I S) con test, taking rep ea t w ins, with Musick a close sec on d in bo th mot os. Taking third in class was Lambe rt (4. ] ). Byro n Kukla had a goo d day. Fir-st he too k third in the Open battl es . Th e n he won bo th mot os in the 2S0cc Novice class. Kukla's closest N ovice com pe tit io n came fr o m Larry Woodhouse . w ho went ]- ] o n t he day for second overal l. Chase Cro m w ell (5 -2) was third. Lance Moore too k home to p ho nors in the 2S0cc Beginner class. over Justin Palmbach, who the n closed up on Moo re 's fender near the e nd of the second rnot o , but Moore was able to fend off Palmbach's attempts. Dakota Garner aced the Supermini event . Gar ner too k t he ho les ho t in mo to one and qu ickly headed to the chec kers. Mot o two saw Ivan Ramirez lead the pack around turn o ne , but Garner quickly moved into the lead and headed to vict o ry. Gar ner also mastered the 85cc (7-1 I) con test after battli ng with Everett Ho lcomb in moto two. In the beginning, Gamer was third, w ith Ho lco mb leading. Garne r closed the gap betw een them , and midway through the last lap he made a daring pass that gave him the overall.
