Broth ers Rustin and Hunter Meyer, w ho usually race for SRAC instead of RMXA, decid ed to come o ut to Brush (or a change, and it definitel y made a differen ce for everyone . In the morn ing 125cc A contest, Hunt er came out w ith the holeshot instea d of one of the usual race rs. As he was listed as racing in the 125cc B class, there was some confusion among the spe ctators (and wit h the anno unce r) as to w ho th is Kawasaki jockey was. Hunte r had decided to give it a shot against the Pros , and he's wave ring as to which class he sho uld contest. Hunte r had a pretty bad crash and didn ' t finish the morning rnoto , Honda-mounted Matt Karlsen took first place. Hunter 's luck must have rubbed off on his little brother, as Rustin also got the holeshot, in the I25cc B class. "Ge ll ing the holeshot and holding first all the way is the best way to go," was Rust in's philoso phy, and that's e xac tly what Rustin did, kee ping a fair lead over the other B racers and even passing a couple of the A rider s. "It's fun knowing I can ride with the Pros ," Rustin said. "O ut front, there's nobody to ride wit h, but if yo u catch up to the Pro s, it makes you go faste r." The afternoon motos of the 125cc A and 125cc B classes played out pretty much the same as the morn ing motos did . Hunter got the holeshot o nce again against the Pros and stayed in first place in class. Karlsen passed him for first place in the 125cc A class. So. actually. Hunte r placed second in the 125cc A class, but since he was signed up in the I25cc B class , he placed first in that class. Due to a cras h in t he Non -Pro class, Rustin did not sta rt in the afte rnoon 125cc Brace . Rustin said he enjoyed racing his older brother Hu nter. "It's intens e riding with him, because he teaches me stuff and pushes me to my limit," said Rustin, w ho' s bee n racing for three years. "So far, I've won every race I've e ntered this season until now," In all, there we re some changes in sto re for every one at the Mother 's Day race in Brush. T he le aders of the RMXA had some new competition, while Rustin had to accept a little de feat to go along with all of his victories this season.
