Mini Endurance series he ld at MotorSport Ranch near Cresson , Texas . The wi n wa s the team 's first overall victo ry of the yea r and made R them the th ird diffe rent wi nner in three ro unds. With se ries lead er Team K&N sta rting (ro m t he bac k (o r ar riving late to the grid . Smith grabbed th e holes hot on his Honda at the start of the tw o -hour even t. Bryan West, however, quic kly moved into the lead on the Sum Of All Parts Honda RS2S0 F, but his stint at the fro nt was short-lived , as the Austin young gun slid the Honda well int o the grass after hitting a pool of water in tu rn two. W ith Su m Of All Parts te mporari ly o ut of the picture , Smith regained the lead , and at the e nd of the first lap the ru nning order was Team Oz Racing, Red Spade Racing, Team Bling, and Team K&N, By lap four, Team K&N had taken the lead, and they held it until the 30-minute mark, when team me mber Tyler McDona ld lost the front end and slid off the track and into the m ud. Team K&N was able to re-enter the race after teching, but t he y were seve ra l laps down , and t he ir chances for a podium finish were looking slim. Meanw hile, Myst e ry Da nce , on a Ho nda RS80, ra n a fast and st eady race , at one time turning a I:5 1.9, putt ing them selves in position to tak e a podium finish. W ith 30 minutes le ft in the race , Team K&N had "unlappe d" themselves and we re in second place , be hin d Team Oz . W ith two minute s re ma ining, Team K&N 's other ride r, Will Gruy, w e nt do wn , e nd ing any hopes of a Team K& N vict o ry. At the finish, the o rder was Team Oz by fou r lap s over Mys t e r y Da nc e , w ith Re d Sp ad e Racing, Indenile Racing and Team K&N rou nding o ut the top five . "We really didn't talk about it a w ho le lot , but we just decided to stay co nsistent and see what happens, said Smith of Team O z. "This was the first t ime on rains for both of us, and we figured a conservative app roac h would be the best - we w e re n't running the fastest times , but we were run ning co nsiste nt times , and w e ke pt it on tw o wh eels , and that 's w hat wo n it." Inde nile Racing's Dust in Dominguez drove a heroic race on a Muzzy SM125, riding so lo to fourth o verall and firs t in Form ula Six. Red Spade Racing was t he to p Fo rmula Five team , with Do uble D Express (co mprised of Marcus Dorsey, Bre nt Smith , Bran don Ballard and Cory Burleson ) taking the w in in the Form ula Seven class and ninth overall. With the w in, Team Oz moved to within five poi nts of Mystery Dance in the seri e s' overall sta nd ings. Trail·Way Speedway Hart Hammers Out First Win at Trail-Way ST By LEN BREECH HANOVER, PA, MAY 1 I n a season t hat has had more raino uts than races, Trail-Way Speedway almo st pu lled off its on ly night race of the seas on . Rains hit abo ut halfway t hrough the finals and made the t rack to o slick after just a few minutes. After practically own ing t he BScc ( 12- 1S) class two years ago , R.J. Hart had t rou ble crack ing the to p five last season. Things looked about t he same t his season, w ith a third-place finish in o ne of the two hea ts . But w hen the gre en light came o n at the start of the 600cc B final , Ha rt put his Fre deri ck tow n Yama hasponsored YZ4 S0F in front o f jo nat ha n Reid, Vince Bowe r, Co ry Tex ter and Henry Mangers . For an eve ning race, the track kept an unusually narrow groove , ma king pass ing so m ew hat difficult. T he order stayed the same until, with abou t tw o laps left , Reid slid o ut, unhurt, in the second tum , and Texte r moved up to pressure Bow e r for second, completing the pass co ming off the final tu rn . jim Chapman took the Over 40 lead , ahead of Lowell Wherley, joe Dohm and Mike Keane, but Whe rley too k the lead by the en d o f the opening lap and pulled away. Dohm drifted back o n his backup Y ama ha after trashi ng his Rotax in one of the heats. Sh a wn Ba er pu t hi s Balliefie id H-D! Zec hman's Cycle-spon sored Yamaha in front of Chris Kline fe lte r, Brya n Dou gla s a nd Jason Ise nnoc k at t he sta rt of the 450cc Spo rtsman contest. Klinefelter stayed with Baer in the early laps. but Baer pulled just a few lengt hs o ut by the halfw ay point. Th e last race to be com plet ed be fore the rains hit was the 125cc B co ntest . Shayna Texter grabbe d the lead from Bra ndo n Robinson and Jordan Harris. Robinson took the lead before the end of the opening lap, with Harris taking second two laps late r. Shayna slid down in turn two at the halfway mark whi le pressuring Har ris. Robinson also was awar ded the 2SOtc B win by virtue of his quicker heat-race time over Hams . Todd Ken dig topped Jim Hollist er in the Over 30 class w he n Holliste r' s heat was rednagged two laps fro m the end and Ke ndig's heat completed its six laps.
