Jens en KAREN GOULD KING CITY, CA, MAY 14 A dee p-cushion bullring oval was the track for /""'\this AHRMARegional event, wh ich doubled as the fifth ann ual Ricky Graham Memo rial Race, hosted and promote d by the Salinas Ramblers. T he event was fun and action-packe d, en joyed by the riders and fans alike. Each year, the Salinas Ramblers provide this night of flattrack racing during the Salinas Valley Fair on the Friday night afte r Mother's Day. "Boo Boo " Bob Scalley was a dou ble winner, taking the victories in both the 7SOccSportsman and Senior classes. David Nicholson gave Scalley a run for his money in the 750cc class. Joe Di Salvo finished the Classic 500cc race in fro nt of Alan Shaw, and David De Cam p led Maury Aust in to t he chec ke rs in Sportsman 250cc competition. Rid ing the Classic 250cc AHRMA event, Joh n Frank was happy to lake home the number-one plate and then to return to t he winners' circle in the '70s Singles class. Fra nk an d Rusty Fir a nzi had a good ti me competing in this o ne , but Frank had tha t little bit extra to pull away and finish first. And rew Luke r crossed t he finish line in fron t in the Pee Wee SOcc class, followed by Ryan Jense n, Scott Kerle and Miranda Garcia. In t he 6Scc class , R.J. Men dez was unstop pable o n his KTM. He was followe d to the finish by three Kawasaki riders - Cody Silva, Wes ley Dao ro and Brons o n Bauman. T he BScc (B-1I) class was eXciti ng. Cody Silva took this one, in fron t of Briar Bauman and Jess Garcia. Laure n Wallace and Danielle Caldeira were t he first two finishers in t he B5cc (12- 15) class. Bo bby Calde ira, Danie lle's brot he r, led the IOOccl I25cc (Under 16) Fou r-Stroke class to the finish. In the Over 16 d ivisio n, Ant o ne Mellow, Danielle and Bruce Fallgre n too k the three spots o n the pod ium. Frankie Garcia, o n a Honda 230, took the Un limite d Sportsman eve nt to t he chec kers, w o r ked the inside line, using his sk ill to get und e r Bisca r d i, and they fin ished Je nse n. Biscardi and Roach. The O pen Pro class on this night was one of fie rce family co m peti tion. Th e Spe nce r clan was on the tr ack (re pre sente d by Rod ney Sr., Rodney Jr. and Bradiey Jr.), as were the Brow n brothers, David and Dan ie l. Going into turn o ne , Rodney Jr., o n the inside , an d Je re my C hisum, on th e ou tside , were evenly matche d for t he fro nt sp ot. Beh ind th e m, Rodney Sr. was riding the inside line.
