After t hwarting a mo ta- long cha llenge fro m Beau Wiegand t he fir st t ime o ut fo r t he wi n , Camarena found Yamaha pilot Kris Triest too much to handle in moto two and wisely settled for a second-pl ace finish, as Triest had tallied a DNF in the first mot o . Wiegand pounded out a pair of solid mot os to earn the two spot on the day via a 2-3 effort , while Cary Tiede rounded out the top three with a 3-4 score. In the 250cc Novice ranks , Suzuk i jockey Kent Snyder found success with a class-winning 4-1 effort . Series domi nator Ronald McCasland won the first mote but crashed wh ile leading mota two and had to settle for third overa ll, as his 1-4 score was bested by James Welsh, who checke d in with a 3-2 score for seco nd overall. Randy Ingle top pe d t he 17- ride r field of 250cc Beginners with a co nsist e nt 2-2 ta lly. Ingle utilize d a pair o f good st arts and rode smart for the overall win, as Mitch Pernsteiner came up just one position short and had settle for seco nd ove rall with his 1-3 e ffo rts. Whe n McGrath wasn't out on the track spanking the local compe tition . he was busy being the King o f MX, s igning autographs and giv ing young ride rs pointers on racing. To no one's surprise, McG rat h dominated his even ts, though the re were a coup le of riders w ho stayed wit hin his dus t. Open-class ride r Larry Reese Jr. kep t within a co uple of seconds of McGrath during the early part of the moto , but a rea r flat side line d his e ffort. An t hony Chare tte, who was shadow ing Reese, was right th e re t o fill th e vo id, and he kept up t he accelerated pace unt il the checkers. There were 335 riders at the event, and six of the m went home double-class winners. McGrath took repeat wins in the 250cc Pro and Vet Over 30 co nt ests . Afte r fixing his flat , Re ese to o k repea t wins in the 12Scc Intermed iate and 16-25 co ntes ts. Joshua Hue rta is har d to beat o n an 85cc bike, and he prove d it by dom inating the J 85 cc Expe rt and Supermini classes . Dako t a Garner took a broo m to the com pe t ition and cleaned up the 8Scc Intermediate and 85cc (7- 1I) classes . Young Desmond Spears co nti nues to shine on both tracks ; he topped the 6Scc (0-8) class with repeat wins, and the n, on Track Two, he edged out Ryan Surratt (1·3) in the Pee Wee (7-8) class with a 3-1 showing. Tristan Miller swep t aside the competition in th e SOcc (0-6) Stock and Modified classes. The 12Scc Int e rm ed iat e class had eig ht riders resembling a fre ight train in both motos . The chief engineer of the train was Reese, who had C ha rette shad owing his every move . Charette , in tu rn, had David Meye rs breathing down his tail pipe in mota one . Meye rs packed it up befor e mota two, but Travis Friestat took his place pushing Chare tte. The re wa s plenty o f action in th e 125 cc No vice d ivision as we ll. Wh e n t he ga te dro pped, all 26 riders poured into tu rn one , with Jack Musick leading them aroun d. Musick ended up see ing the checke rs first, with Adrian Fuller se co nd. Fuller put things right in moto two and wo n the mot o and the ove rall. Seco nd ove ra ll went t o 81ake W ilkey, with his 3-2 show ing. David Kenlan III was third with a 4-4 ta lly. Moto-one w inner Musick dro p ped t o 10m, earn ing fifth overall. In small-bore act ion, Jantz Grodzicki bested the efforts of Cooper Pribyl in the 50cc (7-8) Modi fied cla ss , w ith repeat wins. Matthew Meckes took top honors in the 50cc (0-8) FirstTimers (Non -Shaft) class, wh ich had 20 entries; Conne r Lam o r e t o o k seco nd with h is 1-3 e fforts, a nd t hird was Came ron Toye.
