"Sometimes when you win them, they are way easy, and sometimes when you come from the back in second, they are way harder. Carriger led the field to turn one in the first K&N Filters Open Pro A main of the season, but midpack barbanging brought out the red flag after Shawn Raggio hit the dirt. A complete restart was ordered, but it was even hairier as Raggio again went down , this time leaving SUZUKI. Raggio was put back on the pena lty line. O n the third attempt to get the race going, Danny Casey hit the gro und right in front of Tony Souza. Unable to avoid him, Souza also went down , bringing yet another red flag. The third restart saw Doug Chandlerffommy's Glassbacked Carriger grab another holeshot, followed by Rodney Spencer Jr. and the Corsetti brothers - Scott in third and Mark in fourth . Rodney Spencer Jr. then went to school on leader Carriger. Spencer Jr. pressured him lap after lap, looking for any little opening . There was a small gap back to Scott, who was under fire from brother Mark. with Nye in fifth. With the white flag waving. Rodney Spencer Jr. put a move on Carriger as they came out of turn two and went into three. The crowd went crazy as Rodney Spencer Jr. took the win and proved that yes, a safe pass cou ld be made with lots of patience. Carriger, with his much deserved second place, was joined on the box by SCOtt. Mark was fourth , and Nye finished fifth. "Well we had a lot of restarts, and I just wanted to get the race going," Rodney Spencer Jr. said. "Each restart I kept getting a better and better start. and it finally ended up paying off.
