Greg Schnell, w ho sta rted out the year as a full-on privateer riding a Honda. was on hand at Dallas aboard a fullysupported ArnsoillChaparral CRF250R in the 125cc class. Schnell signed a deal with the team about a week earlier and will finish out the remainder of the 2004 seaso n on the Arnsoilteam. The team's acquisition of Schnell comes after losing two of its riders (TravisPreston and Billy Laninovich)for the rest of season due to knee injuries. Schnell was excited about his new ride. saying. "This is a great op portunity that Hon da has given me. I've ridden Yamahas for the last five or so years, and I decide d to buy a CRF250R just before Anaheim. With these factory bikes, I'd like to get back on the podium, and this summe r I'm going to stay out East. Even tho ugh it willbe tough, I'd like to be to p five outdoo rs." Schnell thanked his new team for givinghim a sec ond chance by finishing ou t the evening on the podium in third . Moto XXX's Damon Huffman fought through the night with badly torn up hand, which he injured ear lier in the week when his chain came off his bike, causing him to cras h. Huffman's hand was all ripped apart, and he had it bandaged to make it th rough the night. Red Bull KTM's Grant Langston was expected to retum to Dallas after missing the Pontiac round due to hand surgery, but he apparently did not feel that it was quite reatly yet . Team members say that he should be back for the Salt Lake round next week. Australian lay Marmont made his first appearance of the year in the USA. Ridinga number 949 Red Bull KTM, Marmont revealed that he has signed a two-year deal with the Austrian manufacturer. "I'll be riding a 125cc next year here for KTM, and the second year is still open on wh ich bike I'll ride," he said before the evening's program. "I'm just going to try to do my best here [at Dallas1 and next week at Salt Lake. I really don't know what to expect."
