fte r picking up his 10th win of the season at the
Dallas Supercross, Chad Reed's lifelong dream
of winning a 250cc Supe rcross title could
become a reality in just seven more days. Going
into the second-to-Iast round of the season next
week in Salt Lake City, Utah, the Australian carries a 40 point lead over Kevin Windham and can almost wrap things
up by just finishing the 250cc main event. Reed put himself
into this ideal position after Winning many hard shootouts
against season -long rival Windham , not unlike the one that
unfolded here in Texas.
As usual, Reed and Windham got out in front early in the
20-lap main event, and after making a pass for the lead on the
fourth go-around, Reed then got into his groove on the slippery, techn ical track and pulled away. Later in the race ,
though , around lap 13, Reed encountered heavy lapped traffic, and Windham took advantage of this by making a push to
the front . He closed the gap and managed to get right on
Reed's tail, making it interesting for the large Dallas crowd,
but the Yamaha YZ250-mounted rider picked up his pace
once again and pulled away a second time, taking the win by
