GREEN BAY, WI, MAR. 21
Two Wisconsin riders showed the way d uring Amateur Day
I at t he Regional Arenacross in Green Bay, Wisco nsin. Kimberly native Jesse Frasserto scored big vict ori es in some to ugh
classes in front of a very large cro wd at the Resch Center, winning th e 125cc Inter med iate and 125cc Schoolboy classes.
Aboard a new Suzuki 250cc four-str oke. Frassetto aced both
main events ahead of some stiff competition. Though he nor mally doesn't participate in arenacross events, Frasseno used
the strong pulling power of his thumper to propel himself into
the w inners' circle . Meanwhile , another Wiscon sin ri der, Doug
Forstner, led the way in the Over 25 and Over 30 classes, with
some he lp from his Y
amaha yz450 F.
In the 12Scc Int e rmediat e class, Frassetto grab bed the
holeshot, close ly chased by Billy Holzhaue r and Brad Behrens.
Holzhauer had his chance to take over the lead after the rocker
section but couldn't get enough drive out of his Kawasa ki to ta ke
the point. Frassetto held on for the upset w in, as Holzhauer had
to settle for second. Behrens too k third. [ern -Paul Pifer and
Eugene O lsen rou nded out the to p fi e .
v
Frassetto used another strong start in th e l25cc Schoolboy
class to gamer his sec ond win of th e day. He was challenged
e a rly o n by Pife r a nd Ca meron Lansing . Had Lansing not
suffered a poor start against Frassetto's thumper, he ce rta inly
cou ld've challenged for the lead, Frassetto was one of three
riders on the day to score doub le-class wins; the others were
Forstn er and Lansing.
Forstner was on the gas on this afternoon. He'd had some
tro ubles in his heat races earlier in the day, taking som e soil
samples when his front end slid out over a rock on the start.
Forstne r kne w he had the speed to win. He grabbed both
holesh ots in the Over 25 and Ov er 30 classes . The Simpsonspo nso re d rider see ms to have rediscovered his passion for
motocross after taking a leave of absence for the past few years,
but afte r the wins he took on Sunday, it's likely he'tl be seen at
the tra ck more often. Forstner was never chafle nged in either
class and checked out en route to some big w ins, Pat Hagen had
to settle for seco nd in the Over 25 and Over 30 divisions and
was never a threat to the leade r.
Lansing won every event he entered during the Friday and
Saturd ay night prog rams, and he won both the B5cc ( 12- 1S) and
escc Supermini classe s. l ansing co uldn't make it seven for
seve n, as he finished third in the I25cc Schoolboy class.
With the success of the Friday an d Saturday even ing
programs and the big turnout in the Amateu r Day program,
Green Bay is on the map to stay when it comes to arenacross in
the future .
