Gas Gas, reaped revenge on Brad Hannon and Toyota Racing Development-backed Gas Gas pilot Dave Pyle after losing to Pyle at the last ro und. Pyle suffered a tough five on lap three when his foot broke a stake in section two. That was all it took for laPlante to close the door and take the win. . The Advanced clas s saw Kiw i t ransp lan t Pete Croft. on a Montesa, lose eight and still take the win by one point over Ry;in Miller. who lo st nine. Th ird was Mar cu s Miller, with IS points . over Paul Aswald, with 17 points lost. Randy Lewis was reall y outstanding in the Interm ed iat e class on his Gas Gas, losing on ly three points. Second best on the Intennediate sections was IO-year-old National Champion Eric Storz. on a She rco 125; Storz d rop ped eight. Third best was fo rme r Montesa factory rider Rich De laney, just one more po int back, with nine. Tied fo r fourth were 12-year-old Gas Gas 80 rider Andrew O ldar and 14-year-old Beta-mounted Mickel Wenge r. with 10 po ints each. Old ar; however. had more clean s, so he received the much-needed fourth-place points. The Sportsman class also proved to be very competitiv e, w ith a-yea r-old Nat ional Champion Chase Harker taking the wi n on his Sherco, over 200 2 AHRMA National Champi on Len Sims, on a Yamaha. T he be st Novice was Jeff McKeow n. wh o lost three po ints. over Gas Gas ride r Kristjan Thardarson, with five. Third was the ever-brave young lady Nikole Tanke , on her Montesa. More than 400 riders showed up to do battle on one of the world' s most beautiful tracks . The Four-Stroke clas s was dominated by Andy Page. on a o ne-da y-old CRF450R, despite losing out to Brandon Sinden in the first moto. Pag e , who 's sp o nso r ed by Team Moto Outfi tters, Troy Lee Designs, HRp, Scott USA and JJW Designs. won the overall with a 2- 1 score afte r stalling his bike in moto one . Sinden ( 1-2) earned second overall, and Joshua True (4- 3), who ha ils fro m Gresham . O regon , rounded out the po dium in th ird . KTM mou nt ed Mark He ctor (5-4) finished fourth, and Lee Slater (3-DNF) beat out all the other DNFers with fifth. Th e Wo men's class was hot ly co ntested , and the top girl of the day was Jennifer Wilson , who w on both motos o n he r wa y to the overall. Nine -year old Sierra Bragg put her Yamaha on the podiu m w ith second overall , beating women more than twice he r age . Bragg finished with a 3-2 mota tally. Mary Radmach er (2- 3) took the third -place pos ition, and in fourth and fifth, respectively, wer e Jamey Parks (4-4) and Vicki Shoc key (5-5). Brad Frace was o n fire throug hout the day; he got even the announcer on his feet as he soared over all the jumps, giving the whole 65cc (9- 1I) class a schooling with his I-I finishes . Tak ing second was KTM-mounted Devon www.cyclenEWs.com Moore (2-2). and Bragg (3-3) fought off the rest of the pack to take th ird. J.B. Daniels (4-4) was fourth. and Tyl r Bunch (5-5) took fifth. e Ricky Miranda had a perfect day, winning every mota of the 85cc (7- 1I) and Supermini (7-1 I) classes. Taking sec ond to Miranda in each mo t a was Tre vor Coltrane, and Aust in Van Meter (3-3) took th ird in the 7- 1I class. Ben Baldasano (5-4) finished fourth , and Kevin Flynn (4-S) new to fifth . Taking th ird in the Supennini class was Conner Sumpter (3- 3). t he Hondamounted Baldasano (5-4 ) too k fou rth. an d rou nding out the top flve was Flynn (6-5). At the end of the day, the riders gathered at th e tower to collect t heir yea r-end trophies, but some of the riders shined abo ve the rest. Polini pilot Matthe w Shirley won the 50cc (7-8) and SOcc O pen cla sse s, dom inating almost every mota throughout the se ries. Washo ugal MX Par k's ow n Kyle Hu ffm an w a s a lso a dou ble-c lass winne r, topping the 65cc (4-8) and 6Scc Open clas ses.
