Sarona Oaks
McAdams, Gagne, Savage
Ravage Ramonal
By HOMER EUBANKS
RAMONA, CA, MAR. 21
D ound two at Barona Oaks turned out to be
I"'a great day of raang . The weather cou ldn't
have bee n nicer, and the racing was fast and
often furious on t he new ly redesigned track.
The day we nt well for Tommy McAdams, Jake
Gagne and Starr Savage, who all enjoyed double-class wins. Several otz,er riders too k repeat
mota wins in their classes.
McAdams scored double·c1ass wins but had
to earn them lap after lap in each moto . In the
12Scc (16-25) class, McAdams was pressured
throughout by Joe Schryver, who in turn was
being pushed along by both Dustin Stanley and
Brandon Avalos . T he four were insep arable
t hro ugh o ut both motos . McAdams w as in
charge of both matos, but had he made the
slightest mistake , any of the other three were
rea dy to take over. O nce the dust settled , it
was McAdams, Schryver, Stanley and Avalos, in
that ord er.
McAdams got a bit of a brea k in the 125cc
Intermediate races , as his only other
competition was first-time Intermed iate rider
Tommy Deuchars, who raced with McAdams
early on - in fact, he got the holeshot once · but
at the checkers, it was all McAdams.

lap, riding a new CRF2S0R. In do ing so, Watson
pulled away from the other four riders in the
class. Chris Armbriste r too k repeat secondplace finishe s, while Carlos Casas took third
overall with a 5-3 show ing.
Gagne maste red the 6Scc (9- 1I) and 65cc
Open classes. Gagne made a clean sweep of the
events , with Garret jackson a close second in
the age class. Chris Cuero too k second overall
in the Open event .
Ther e's an old saying that the apple doesn't
fall far from the tree, and at Baro na Oaks , roo ts
run de ep . A few years ago , Michael Craig
learned his motocross skills at this track, and
now h is son Christian is cu ltivating some
nota ble riding skills here as well. Th is season,
Christian appears to have come ready to race .
Two weeks ago. he won the escc No vice event
overall . and he came back th is week to win
both class motos. Christian placed seco nd in
the Supennini division after w inning moto one.
Michael Hernandez was the overall Supermini
winner, with a 2· 1 tally Dy1an Brehm turned in
.
a 3-3 effort for th ird overall.
Savage took repeat wins in the Super Pee
Wee class and late r came out in the 6Scc
Beginner drvision and repeated his dom inating
ways by scoring two moto w ins.
At Track II, Sebrina Hernandez, Ch ristian
Acuna , Austin Ande rson , Tristan Miller, Ryan
Surratt and Beau Irvin all d ominated their
respective classes with repeat wins.
