Sp ies wasn't pulling away, but Hacki ng wasn't closing. " Lap after lap he wasn't doing anything, and then I just made a few mistakes, and the rear end was sliding around," Hacking said. "I lost it and had to run off the track, and Bucky got by me, and I got behind him , and it was just like watching myself. Both our bikes w e re doing the same thing, and we just couldn 't d rive ." Hac king ceded second on t he I I th lap , though he kept the heat on, finishing .159 of a second behind Buckmaster. " It kind of sucks because I thought my bike was better than anybody's on the first part of the race, before the red flag." Hacking said . " It was a struggle getting by Azza [Aaron Gobert). Those guys jumped that big gap on me. Once I got by Azz a , I was the fastest guy out there." Hacking professed happiness w ith the machine after the red flag. "They sa id, 'What do you want to change?' I said , ' N o thing, it' s good. If you My can get another set of tires like that, we'll be good to go.' " But he couldn't, so he slid to third. Teammates Jason DiSalvo and Aaron Gobert were next along, DiSalvo happy with fourth and Gobert not happy with fifth. The Australian said the onset of warm temperatures just before the race compromised his setup.
