Dave Boydstun, AHRMA director of off-road competition , became a marr ied man on Saturday evening at the racetrack. The wedding was a formal affair arranged by his lovely new wife, Elizabeth . While Dave had his many racing friends in attendance , his bride's family traveled internatio nally to celebrate th is event with the newlyweds . As Brad Lackey moved into the Over SO Expert class, everyone looked forward to watching one of the hottest races of the day: Brad Lackey vs. Jim Pomeroy. What a surprise when both guys did not finish the first moto. Lackey dropped a pipe from his newly built 1974 Maico, and Pomeroy froze up his Yamaha. Lackey then took a bye on the first moto, but Pomeroy jumped on a backup bike and the n jammed his knee on one of the jumps while trying to play catch-up . Dur ing the second moto , Phoeni x favorite Ed Zornes jumped out of the gate on his '74 YZ, with "Diamond Don" Rainey right behind him. Lackey quickly made the pass into second place but just wasn't able to powe r past Zornes. Lackey finished in second place, but Pomeroy finished the day with his knee on ice. Zornes took home the wood with 2-1 finishes. Chad Mcintosh had to fight for his wins in the Prem ier SODcc Expert class. Wearing a number-one plate and working on staying out in front for the series , he took the win T SPTSHN 12S NOV: I. Cody Bowen (Hon); 2. Lee Holmbey (Yam); 3. Georg e Eadie (Yam); .. . "It's fun racing against Benolkin," Coupe said on the line for the first Over 40 Expert moto. "Three motos to go!" "It's cold in Minnesota," Benolkin noted, "so I haven't had a chance to practice. I'm still warm ing up." During the second Sportsman 250cc Expert rnoto, Mark Mitchell got the holesho t out of the gate . Benolkin made the pass about halfway around the track . Then Coupe leaped out in front and held that position for the rest of the race - but Benolkin wasn't giving him any breathing room. .....u.~~~.;l,,-"l~..:._'J:J~ .Ll:l.JU~~ Another surp rise of the day: There were 10 female competitors and four racers in the Over 70 classes.
